I am currently a 1st grade teacher at an International
School in China. One thing I have learned is the importance of communication and teamwork between parents and other staff members to build understanding and support students in the best way. I believe in working as a team to best meet the needs of children. Before working in first grade, I was a Kindergarten teacher for five years alongside two other Chinese teachers. I learned the importance of embracing cultural differences and how to build a multicultural classroom. I was also a Spanish teacher at the Kindergarten where I could use my language skills to support the school. I also learned Chinese which has been beneficial in communicating with the children, parents and staff members on a daily basis. I am adaptable and always willing to learn new things! My strength as a teacher leader is building community and maintaining great relationships. I graduated from University of California, Irvine with a bachelors in Psychology and received a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from there as well. I was a long term substitute and support teacher in the Orange County School District for two years before moving to China.
