TIME CLAUSES

Van introducidas por conjunciones que expresan tiempo:

When (cuando)
There was nobody at home when you arrived.

As (cuando) -
There was nobody at home As you arrived .
As soon as ( tan pronto como)
As soon as you arrive in Madrid, phone me.

Since (desde)
Since he has left, we are all very sad.

While (mientras)
While you were sleeping, I was looking at you.

Meanwhile (mientras tanto)


You are playing football, meanwhile I am watching TV.

After (después)
After he had arrived at home, he had dinner.

Before ( antes)
Before you buy the dress, let me know.
Before+ v-ing (antes de + infinitive)
Before leaving the school today, tell me

After + v-ing (después de+infinitive)


After watching the film, I went to bed.
After I had watched the film I went to bed

No sooner….... Than ( nada más……….)


Nada más llegar a Madrid, vimos la Cibeles

 No sooner ( adv -); cuando va al principio de la


oración, consideramos la oración como interrogativa

 No sooner had I bought the book than I realized


that I had read it

cinema

Hardly ………. when (apenas……… cuando)


Apenas había llegado a Madrid, cuando te llamé
Hardly did I arrive in Madrid, when I phoned you
 Hardly did I buy the book when I realized that I had read it
 Hardly did I leave home when it began to rain
La oración subordinada temporal nunca puede llevar el verbo en
futuro.
