5) Install and post configure ESXi 6.0 .Create a guest OS (windows and Ubuntu) .
VM Specifications:
Name of the VM: Oracle
CPU: 2
RAM: 500MB
HardDisk: 100GB
Enable USB Drive
Install antivirus software from internet in Guest OS
NICs: 1
6) Create desktop virtualization and configure Ubuntu OS for the given ESXi host.
VM Specifications:
Step 1:
Consider a Bank “ICICI” who is supposed to manage three units namely
LoanProcessing unit, TransactionReporting unit and ATM. Initially, LoanProcessing
unit is configured to manage 2 Virtual Machines namely L1 & L2 which is present
under a port group “LoanProcessing”. TransactionReporting unit is configured to
manage 2 Virtual Machines namely Transac1, Transac2 which is present under a port
group “TransactionReporting”. ATM unit is configured to manage 1 Virtual Machine
namely ATMMaintanence which is present under a port group “ATM”. If any of the
VMs present under the above 3 port group fails, then the issues will be solved by
migrating the failed VMs to another virtual switch called “UnderMaintenance” which
is not been exposed to outside network.
Step 2:
Name of the VM: ATM [ Note: Other VMs can be created without Guest OS ]
CPU:1
RAM: 1GB
HardDisk:15GB
Enable USB Drive and access contents from pen Drive in Guest OS
Create 2 NICs:
The VM “ATM” should be supported in both port group “ATM” and
“TransactionReporting”.
7) Create full virtualization and configure windows OS for the given ESXi host.
Step 1:
Consider a Micro Software Development Company who is supposed to manage two
units namely Development unit and Testing unit. Initially, Development unit is
configured to manage 3 Virtual Machines namely Devop1, Oracle, IDE which is
present under a port group “Development”. Testing unit is configured to manage 2
Virtual Machines namely IntegrationTest, SystemTesting which is present under a
port group “Testing”. If any of the VMs present under the above 2 port group fails,
then the issues will be solved by migrating the failed VMs to another virtual switch
called “UnderMaintenance” which is not been exposed to outside network. Further,
the admin would like the VM “Oracle” to respond to request from both switches. So
that the “oracle” will be placed in both Development and UnderMaintenance” Do a
Network Virtualization that suits this environment.
Step 2:
VM Specifications:
Name of the VM: Oracle
CPU: 2
RAM: 2 GB
Hard Disk: 150GB
Enable USB Drive
Install any Application software from internet in Guest OS
NICs: 2
The VM “Oracle” should be supported by both port group “ Development” and the
dummy switch “UnderMaintenance”.
8) Install Type 1 hypervisor and configure windows OS.
VM Specifications:
CPU: 1
RAM: 750 MB
Hard Disk: 50GB
Enable USB Drive
Install VLC media Player from internet in Guest OS
NICs: 1
9) Install and configure a windows 7 virtual machine in Type -2 Hyper-V and install any
application service over the guset OS.
14. Install and configure a Unbuntu 7 virtual machine in Type -2 Hyper-V. Configure and enable
the internet connection over the guest OS. Install any of the application software over it.
11) Assume the following Scenario
a. Choose the region Asia Pacific (Mumbai)
b. Create a Virtual Private Cloud with two availability zones. Design the
following architecture over Amazon
iii) If any of the VMs present under the above 2 port group fails, then the issues will be solved by
migrating the failed VMs to another virtual switch called “UnderMaintenance” which is not
been exposed to outside network.
iv) Further, the admin would like the VM “Oracle” to respond to request from both switches.
15. Consider a Bank “ICICI” who is supposed to manage three units namely LoanProcessing unit,
TransactionReporting unit and ATM.
iii) ATM unit is configured to manage 1 Virtual Machine namely ATMMaintanence which is
present under a port group “ATM ”.
iv) If any of the VMs present under the above 3 port group fails, then the issues will be solved by
migrating the failed VMs to another virtual switch called “UnderMaintenance” which is not
been exposed to outside network
v) Further, the admin would like the VM “ATM” to respond to request from both switches.
16. Consider an Educational Institution who is willing to maintain their department information
separately. But Institution would like to manage all the department information as a single view
to reduce the manual risk. In the current academic year, an extra department called “fashion
Technology” been introduced and the Department Head is asked to maintain 3 VMs in a
Separate Esxi for their internal use. It will be managed centrally. Hence , add a new Esxi for FT
and create two VMs under FT in a centrally managed server not from the Vsphere Client.
Migrate a VM from one Esxi which is meant for IT to FT.
