 Union Education Minister Dharmedra Pardhan has launched a 100-day reading campaign ‘Padhe Bharat’.
 Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Major Dhyan Chand Sports University in Meerut. The
University will be established at Salawa and Kaili villages of Sardhana town in Meerut at an estimated cost of about
700 crore rupees.

in the multinational exercise Sea Dragon 2022 at Guam in the Western Pacific.

 RBI has cancelled the Certificate of Authorisation (CoA) of two Payment System Operators (PSOs) : Muthoot Vehicle
and Asset Finance Limited and Eko India Financial Services Pvt. Ltd.
 Uttar Pradesh government has declared four villages located near the Nepal borders in the district as revenue villages.
The four villages are Bhavanipur, Tedhia, Dhakia and Laxmibai.
 RBL Bank and Google announced a strategic collaboration to fuel the Bank's customer experience strategy. Through
this, the bank will expand its value proposition to serve its rapidly growing customer base through the digital platform.
 Kerala Arts and Crafts Village Organization (KACV) from Kovalam was awarded the International Craft Award 2021
for the best craft village in the world by the World Crafts Council International.
 DRDO successfully test-fired an extended range sea-to-sea variant of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile for the
Indian Navy.
 The 9th edition of the North East Festival was concluded in Guwahati. The main purpose of the festival was to promote
and highlight the commercial and tourism potential of the North East region.
 Kochi in Kerala has become India's first city to have a Water Metro Project after the launch of its first boat in December
2021, namely Muziris among the 23 battery powered electric boats being manufactured by Cochin Shipyard Limited.

 The Government of India is set to become the largest shareholder in Vodafone Idea. The company's board approved the
conversion of Rs 16000 crores in interest into equity.
 Retail inflation in December 2021 rose to a six month high of 5.59 % from 4.91 % in November 2021, mainly due to
a sharp rise in food prices as food inflation for the period under review also rose steeply to 4.05 % against 1.87 % in
November 2021.
 DRDO successfully flight tested the Man-Portable Anti Tank Guided Missile in its final deliverable configuration.

(1,640-feet) long and 70-meter wide. Construction on the massive infrastructure project began in 2016 and was meant
to be done by 2019. It also went over the initially planned budget by around €300 million ($338 million).

 India’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging station with a capacity of 100 charging points for 4 wheelers, was opened
at Delhi-Jaipur National Highway in Gurugram. Previously, India’s largest EV charging station was situated in Navi
Mumbai with 16 AC & 4 DC charging ports for EVs. The new EV charging station has been developed by tech-piloting
company Alektrify Private Limited.

 Kochi, Kerala has become India’s first city to have a Water Metro Project after the launch of its first boat in December
2021, namely ‘Muziris,’ among the 23 battery-powered electric boats being manufactured by Cochin Shipyard Limited.

This launch is a part of the Rs 747-crore project which is operated by Kochi Water Metro Ltd (KWML). The boats will
be called Water Metros. With a total outlay of Rs 819 crore, the project’s major part is financed under Indo-German
Financial Cooperation through a long-term loan agreement of 85 million Euros (Rs 579 crore) with the German funding
agency, KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau).

 Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has launched a 100-day reading campaign ‘PadheBharat.The launch of
the 100 Days Reading Campaign is in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which lays emphasis

Milan in Visakhapatnam, scheduled from February 25, 2022.The theme of this 11th edition of exercise Milan
is camaraderie, cohesion and collaboration. This exercise was initiated in 1995 and held biennially and conducted with
friendly navies.The professional competitions and conferences planned during this phase shall build the operational
tempo for the Sea Phase planned from March 1-4. This Phase would be utilised to consolidate upon the lessons learnt
during harbour interactions and to build upon the experience of operating together at sea.The countries that have been
extended invitations for participation include Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Israel, Iran,
France, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Brazil, United Arab Emirates, among others.As per an official, India
has increased its naval engagements with friendly nations at bilateral, trilateral and multilateral levels since 2018.
 India and its partners in the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue or Quad along with Canada and South Korea are participating
in the multinational exercise Sea Dragon 2022 at Guam in the Western Pacific.The six nations that are participating in
the exercise are the United States, Australia, Canada, India, Japan and South Korea.

 Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully test-fired an extended range sea-to-sea variant
of the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile for the Indian Navy on 11th January 2022. This advanced sea to sea variant
of BrahMos Supersonic Cruise missile was launched from INS Visakhapatnam, a stealth guided-missile destroyer of
the Indian Navy. BrahMos Aerospace, an India-Russian joint venture, produces supersonic cruise missiles that can
be launched from submarines, ships, aircraft, or land platforms. The missile can be launched from submarines, ships,
aircraft, or land platforms. BrahMos missile flies at a speed of 2.8 Mach or almost three times the speed of sound.
 Scientists and experts in France have reportedly identified a new variant of COVID-19 termed ‘IHU’. The new variant
is said to be a more mutated strain than Omicron.The B.1.640.2 or IHU variant was first identified by the academics at

institute IHU Mediterranee Infection and contains 46 mutations, which is more than Omicron.
 Cyprus has detected a new variant dubbed as “Deltacron”, that has a similar genetic background to the Delta variant,
coupled with 10 mutations from Omicron. The variant has already affected 25 people in Cyprus.

 The first 'geological' park of country will be built in Lamheta in Jabalpur. An announcement to this effect was made by
BJP MP from Jabalpur Rakesh Singh on Sunday. Approval for the park has been granted by Geological Survey of India,
under ministry of mining, Government of India for construction of the park with an investment of Rs 35 crores.
