Checking Directive: 57000000134673/D1

1 General information
This document specified only the part specified requirements for Microchannel heat exchanger
(condenser) applied in BSH product area “Refrigeration”.

All general requirements specified in BSH checking directive “General requirements for parts
and components in cooling circuits” 1 must be met, too.

All national and international standards and references given in Chapter 3 (in case of any) must
be considered. Suppliers must commit that they are familiar with content of these standards and
producing, testing accordingly.

2 Part specific requirements and tests

2.1 Requirements on corrosion resistance
The corrosion resistance of the MCHE condenser must be confirmed by performing tests
according to BSH checking directive “Climatic tests: Tropical environment”2 with a chosen
duration of 21cycles / 500 h. One cycle correlates with 24 hours.

Cycle duration Test conditions

Test periods Total Air temperature Relative humidity
16h including warm-up ( 40 ± 2) °C 95 – 98 %
8h including cooling 24h ( 13 ± 2) °C 95 – 98 %

This test is intended to confirm the suitability of component for operation and storage in
environment of high relative humidity combined with periodical changes of temperature, where
condensation on component circle occurs.

After the test corrosion or obviously visible oxidation of the component surfaces are not
acceptable.

2.1.1 Requirements to prevent corrosion during manufacture

Material applied during manufacturing and assembly, which might have contact with refrigerant
carrying part, must be approved by manufacturer for their compatibility with the refrigerant carry
part. They are not allowed to cause corrosion. Once BSH requires, supplier must deliver BSH
the approval. They are not allowed to leave any abrasion or other residues, which can cause
corrosion, neither.

Manufacturers must pay attention to following points during manufacture to prevent corrosion:
 All machines, conveying systems and other tools must be made out of abrasion resistant
materials in order to avoid the possibility of unwanted materials to get onto the surface of
the parts
 All substances and materials used in production and handling (coolants, lubricants,
cleaning agents, etc.) must be free of corrosive substances such as chloride, graphite,
sulfate, phosphate, sulphur, etc.

Checking Directive: 57000000134673/D1

 The usage of PVC in the production, packaging or assembling of the condensers is

forbidden
 Hand gloves in the production are required to avoid sweat on the condenser surface

2.2 Assembly conditions

Maximum 5% loose fins are allowed.

2.3 Content and requirements for visual inspection

 Dimensions and tolerances according to drawing.

 Sharp edges on fins or cover plates, which can cause injuries when handling, are not
allowed.
 The surface of the condenser shall be free from damages, contaminations (particular dust,
lubricants), corrosion or oxidation
 All possible contact points between uncoated aluminum and copper (either during
production packing or transportation) must be prevented from galvanic coupling by
positive means (e.g. sleeve or spacers)
 Regarding to the connection joints:
– corrosive flux residue is not allowed
– the seam must be continuous and completely filled without voids
– without degradation/ melting of the basic material (e.g. surface erosion) due to
overheating
