The Skills Recognition Unit provides advice on how overseas qualifications compare to Australian educational
standards. This assessment may help overseas qualified people to study and work in Queensland.

Skills Recognition assesses the educational level of completed technical or tertiary qualifications. This service is free
for Queensland residents.

Overseas qualified people can also research their own qualification comparison in their country education profile
(CEP). Please refer to the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) website and select CEP
online at http://aei.gov.au/AEI/QualificationsRecognition/Information/CEP.htm. CEP online is a paid subscription

Assessments provide employers and educational institutions with information on how overseas qualifications
correspond with Australian awards. Education assessments are for general purposes. The assessment may assist
with gaining employment, or a promotion, determining salary levels and entry to a government job or tertiary study.

1. Australian and New Zealand citizens, permanent residents and people who have permission to work or study
in Queensland can apply for assessment using this application form.

2. Skills Recognition does not assess qualifications for migration purposes. For information on migration
including having your skills assessed for permanent residency in Australia, refer to the Department of

3. Skills Recognition cannot assess work experience or qualifications to work in a registrable occupation.

3. Evidence of Australian residency status eg. Australian or New Zealand certificate of citizenship (eg. Current
passport & visa)
4. Proof of any name changes if applicable (eg. marriage certificate)
5. This completed application form.
*Documents should be certified as a true copy of original document by a Justice of the Peace or
Commissioner for Declarations (normally found at a bank, post office, pharmacy or police station).
