 ABOUT DSNLU
The aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh to have a centre of excellence in legal education was
fulfilled by establishing Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), by the
Government of Andhra Pradesh vide DSNLU Act, 2008 at Visakhapatnam to impart quality legal
education. It is also recognised u/s 2 (f) of UGC Act, 1956 and the BCI. Its mission is to design and
deliver legal education, promote academic achievement and excellence in legal research.

The University offers 5 year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) degree and one year LL.M. (Constitutional
Law, Criminal Law and Commercial Law) degree. The University has MOUs for student exchange
programs with other National Law Universities at Bangalore, Kolkata, Patna and Patiala.
Additionally, University has an MOU with ICADR; NLU Delhi, and is a deemed Study Centre by the
IGNOU.
ABOUT VISAKHAPATNAM
Visakhapatnam is a port city and industrial centre in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, on the Bay
of Bengal. It is known for its many beaches, including Ramakrishna Beach, home to a preserved
submarine at the Kursura Submarine Museum. The name was coined after Visakha, the Hindu god of
valour. It is surrounded by Eastern Ghats and faces Bay of Bengal on the east. It is also called the City
of Destiny, because of its landscape view and very attractive beaches.
It is the headquarters of Eastern Naval Command. Nearby are the elaborate Kali Temple and the
Visakha Museum, an old Dutch bungalow housing local maritime and historical exhibits. Kailasgiri
park was developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority and
comprises 380 acres of land covered with flora and tropical trees. Other tourist spots: Simhachalam,
Thotlakonda beach, Rishikonda beach, Visakhapatnam Port.
 ABOUT THE SEMINAR
International Commercial Arbitration: Issues & Challenges
Arbitration today is a well-accepted mode of settling commercial
disputes both national and international. It is no exaggeration to
say that there exists no single sector without using arbitration. It
is in this milieu that commercial arbitration assumes a great
significance in the 21st century as a method of settling disputes,
mostly commercial disputes. International Commercial
Arbitration is a means of resolving disputes arising under
international commercial contracts. The main objective of
international commercial arbitration are to provide an easy and
accessible dispute resolution mechanism and to prevent them
from the time-consuming court litigation procedure. Given the
necessity for an effective dispute resolution system, international
arbitration has evolved as the preferred method for settling cross-
border economic disputes.
The recent developments in arbitration jurisprudence, as seen
by recent court rulings in the last decade, clearly demonstrate
the judiciary's support in favour of arbitration, including
declaring Indian arbitration law to be seat-centric, referring
non-signatories to an arbitration agreement to settle disputes
through arbitration, defining the scope of public policy in both
domestic and foreign-seated arbitration, thus enabling India to
adopt the finest international practises and delving deeply into
the issue of arbitrability.
The seminar endeavours to address the grey issues and the
impact of same on India. In support of this strategy,
Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, Arbitration &
Conciliation (Amendment) Acts of 2015 and 2019, as well as
Arbitration Conciliation (Amendment) Act, 2021 were
enacted with the goal of making India a centre for
institutional arbitration for both local and international
disputes.
These efforts of all the three wings of the Government
testify that India is taking all possible measures to make
India investor friendly which may lead India one of the
prominent hubs of arbitration on par with other leading
centres. The topics and technical sessions are structured not
only to illustrate the theoretical aspect of the subject but
enable the participants to understand the practical
application of the principles by analyzing diverse interalia
issues like drafting of clause, Third Party Funding and
Enforcement of law.
It is in this backdrop, The Centre for Alternative Dispute
Resolution (CADR), DSNLU is taking the initiative to
organize a seminar to discuss, deliberate on the legal regime
and nuances and recent trends of International Commercial
Arbitration.
 OBJECTIVES OF THIS SEMINAR:
To explore and expound the understanding of the
emerging trends of International Arbitration;
To enhance the knowledge, understanding and scope of
ADR;
Raise awareness of the significance of international
arbitration as a component of the justice delivery
system;
To effectively strengthen the implementation of
International Arbitration;
To equip the students and professionals with practical
aspect of International Arbitration techniques to
promote independent career in the field;
To investigate and expand one’s grasp of developing
trends in international arbitration.
Thus, the current seminar is designed with the goal of
taking stock of India’s progress in the field of law, while
also providing a forum for discussion on legal topics
involving International Arbitration (Commercial and
Investment). It provides an opportunity for specialists
from numerous disciplines, including researchers,
academicians, legal experts, and students, to get together
and contribute their important opinions on the major
themes surrounding this topic.

Target Audience for the Seminar:
This Seminar aims to bring together leading academicians, researchers, advocates,
research scholars and students to exchange and share their experiences on the
nuances of International Commercial Arbitration and present and discuss the most
recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered
and solutions adopted in the fields of International Commercial Arbitration.
 CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS AND SUBMISSION GUIDELINES:
Contributions are invited for original work which addresses own research, Case Studies, theoretical and
conceptual work in the above-mentioned webinar themes. Networking, interaction, sharing and discussion
will be core aspects of the webinar, emphasizing what you can learn from and with your peers. Abstracts and
Full-Papers for the publications should be submitted via email to - adrcell@dsnlu.ac.in
❖ The length of the abstract should be between 100-350 words and are to be submitted in word document.
❖ The author’s name, title and other details should be typed at the end of the Abstract and Paper.
❖ Authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts by email in “word format” and “12-Times New Roman” font should be
used within text along with “10-Times New Roman” for footnotes with 1.5 spacing.
❖ The word limit for the full paper should be between 4000- 7000 words including abstract. Registration Link
❖ The Bluebook 21st Edition style of citation must be strictly followed.
❖ Co-authorship: Up to two-authors is permitted.
❖ Ignorance of any prescribed guideline would lead to prima facie rejection.
