continent, stretching for the most part between the Arctic Circle and the Tropic of Cancer. It consists of 23 countries, the largest of which is the United States, which has the world's largest economy. North America is the northernmost part of the landmass known as the New World, the Western Hemisphere, the Americas, or simply America (which, in many countries is considered as a single continent with North America a subcontinent). North America is the third-largest continent in terms of land area, after Asia and Africa. SOUTH AMERICA
South America is a continent located entirely in the
Western Hemisphere, primarily in the Southern Hemisphere, with a small portion in the Northern Hemisphere. It is also known as the southern subregion of a single continent known as America. South America is the world's fourth largest continent. It is the southernmost part of the landmass known as the New World, the Western Hemisphere, or simply the Americas. Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela are the countries involved. There are three dependent territories in addition to these sovereign states: the Falkland Islands (UK), French Guiana (France), South Georgia, and the South Sandwich Islands (UK). ANTARCTICA
Antarctica is the world's most southerly and
fifth-largest continent. Its landmass is almost wholly covered by a vast ice sheet. Antarctica, often referred to as a continent of superlatives, is not only the world's southernmost continent. One of the world's most massive and mysterious landmasses - the frozen realm of Antarctica - lies at the planet's southernmost tip. This icy expanse covers more than 14 million square kilometers, making it the world's fifth largest continent. It is almost entirely within the Antarctic Circle, so temperatures are consistently below zero for the majority of the year. AFRICA
Africa is the world's second-largest continent
(after Asia), accounting for roughly one-fifth of the total land surface. Africa is the only continent with a distinct identity among the world's seven continents. Africa's culture is extremely diverse. It has a diverse cultural heritage, a wealth of natural resources, and breathtaking tourist attractions. Many scientists believe that Africa is the origin of mankind. It is a continent with 54 independent countries and a diverse mix of native peoples, cultures, economies, and history. It has stunning scenic beauty and variety, with vast deserts, tropical rain forests, rugged mountains, and fertile grasslands. It has an abundance of flora and fauna that no other continent can match. ASIA
Asia is the world's most populous and diverse
continent. It takes up four-fifths of the giant Eurasian landmass's eastern four-fifths. Asia is a geographical term rather than a homogeneous continent, and using the term to describe such a vast area has the potential to obscure the enormous diversity among the regions it encompasses. All of the world's major religions —Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, and Judaism—as well as many minor ones—were born in Asia. Asia is the world's most populous continent, with over 4.6 billion people. According to the July 2021 US Census Bureau, China has the most people in Asia, with a population of 1.4 billion. China is also the world's most populous country. EUROPE
The European continent is home to 50 countries.
However, only 44 of these 50 countries have their capital city in Europe. The European Union (EU) is a political and economic union comprised of 27 European countries. The European continent is entirely located in the northern hemisphere and is primarily located in the eastern hemisphere. Europe is bounded to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, and to the south by the Mediterranean Sea. Russia's European region encompasses more land than any other country. Russia, Ukraine, and France are the three largest countries. AUSTRALIA
Australia is the smallest continent and one of the
largest countries on the planet, located in the Southern Hemisphere between the Pacific and Indian oceans. Canberra, Australia's capital, is located in the southeast, between the larger and more important economic and cultural centers of Sydney and Melbourne. Australia is the world's sixth largest country, following Russia, Canada, the United States, China, and Brazil. The country is divided into six states (Southern Australia, Western Australia, New South Wales, Queensland, Victoria, and Tasmania), as well as two self- governing territories (the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory) (which is around Canberra, the capital city). The aboriginal people of Australia are commonly referred to as Australia's first or indigenous people. They now account for 2% of Australia's population.
