Hello I am Shannon Lee, currently in my first year in University of Buffalo, majoring in both

Bachelor degree in Science Business Administration and Economics. My lively personality

and insatiable hunger of learning draws me to study business administration and economics.
I would like to be specialized in marketing in my study of business administration.
Understanding how to marketers entice consumers to purchase the service and products
have been the main motivation and passion that I see myself doing in the future. On the
other hand, for economics, it gives me a broader view of the economy. Through these
courses, they enhance my knowledge in those aspects, and used the skillset that I’ve learnt
to make this world a better environment. Hence, my life goal is to constantly improve myself
and spread positivity to the people around me. I hope to be a marketer in the future, and
develop campaigns that benefit both the company and the environment.

My Interest
I am quite a mundane and basic kind of person.

I love travelling and visit places around the world. It acts as a getaway from the busy lifestyle
in Singapore. Moreover, when I visit countries with rich culture, like Japan, Prague, and etc,
it influenced me positively. For example, Japan has a unique form of greeting. It is important
to show correct amount of respect to someone based on their status relative to your own.
As a result, one should wait to be introduced. It is considered impolite to introduced
oneself, even in a large group. In addition, the standard form of a Japanese traditional
greeting is bowing. How far one bows depends on your relationship to the other person.
Hence, the deeper one bow, the greater respect given to the other party.
With this rich culture in countries around the world, it acts as a reflection of myself, which
motivates me to learn from cultures of different countries. Travelling is like a breather from
the busy and fast paced city like Singapore. By travelling, it enables me to see the beauty of
cities and natures that are lacking in Singapore. Moreover, it is a break that allows me to
rest and store energy for the subsequent boost when I return to my work and lifestyle in
Singapore.

Reading
I love to read books regardless fiction and non-fiction. At times, I love to read poetry books.
It enabled me to rest my mind and focus on the books. It calms me down, especially coming
from a busy city like Singapore. It slows down my pace a little and get a breather from busy
city. Reading allows me to view different perspectives of authors, which enabled me to learn
to put myself in others’ shoes. It is a leisure that I enjoy from time to time, aside from
hanging out with friends and family. It gives me a personal space of my own, allowing me to
reflect and improve myself.

Past & Present ISR

Past ISR:
1. Social innovation project done in Singapore Polytechnic. We brainstorming ideas to
help the livelihood of villagers in Baan Kong Hae. Baan Kong Hae is a village that is
located at the mountainous area in Chiang Mai. The livelihood of the villagers is
agriculture. Some villagers export crops to the city in Chiang Mai and Bangkok. As
Baan Kong Hae is located in the mountain, the weather is drastic. In the day, the
weather may be humid and hot. However, at night, the temperature may drop
drastically to 15 degrees. Crops are grown in the village have to withstand the drastic
change of temperature or there should be facilities to protect the crops.

In my team, we had brained an idea of a greenhouse. Building a greenhouse is costly. Hence,

we had to sell our ideas to investors in Chiang Mai to help the livelihood of the villagers in
Baan Kong Hae.

2. In secondary schools, I was tasked to do community service every year. There will be
a day that is scheduled by the school to do community service.
When I was secondary 3, we were tasked to collect pick up litters in the beach at
East Coast park. At that point in time, I was into social responsibility. It was just a
task assigned by the school to obtain CIP points.

Present ISR

1. I will reuse the printed notes which are printed on single sided for other note taking
purposes for other modules. This reduce the paper usage and helps to save the
environment.

2. I tend to donate my clothes to H&M to recycle the cloths. My family will collate and
pack all our unwanted clothes and donate to H&M to recycle these clothing. This
helps to recycle the cloths and make new clothing, which save the environment.

Future ISR
1. As I am an active grab rider, who takes grab services to most of my destinations. It
has become a habitual behavior in my daily lives. After learning ISR, I am determined
and motivated to reduce the number of grab rides and use the public transport like
bus and train to reach to my destinations. This can reduce the carbon footprint
caused by cars.

2. I can participate in more community programmes to improve the community. For

example, visiting and helping out in orphanages and old folks’ home. This can creates
a sense of security to the orphans and old folks that they are loved and not
abandoned.
