Leadership Experiences and Goals

Leadership Experiences:

● Amid the transition to teaching virtually, I designed and taught my colleagues a


method of teaching guided reading virtually utilizing a video tool and online
resources.
● I provide my team support with developing individual student reading goals.
● I alter my guided reading groups based on research with development of
strategies and goals.

Goal 1: I will develop my leadership in Professional Development

Goal: Provide grade-level teachers with an in-depth understanding of student goals


within intervention.

Objective: Develop and create a powerpoint presentation with the key elements and
goals of the intervention team.

Rationale: Creating Effective Professional Learning Communities - Outlines the


importance of sharing student goals amongst educators

NBPTS: Proposition 5: Teachers are Members of the Professional Community.

TLMD: Domain 1: Fosters a Collaborative Culture to Support Educator Development


and Student Learning

Teacher Inquiry: I will contribute to creating a professional community among the


various grade-level teams by providing shared goals from the intervention team.

Goal 2: I will develop my leadership in Subject Matter and Lesson Delivery

Goal: Enhance student engagement in reading development by integrating subject


areas.

Objective: Design and deliver lessons utilizing literacy that aligns with a science
standard.

Rationale: Integrating Subjects in Elementary School - Discusses the many forms of


integrating subject matter content within the classroom.

NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those
subjects to students.

TLMD: Domain 4: Facilitates Improvements in Instruction and Student Learning.


Teacher Inquiry: I will develop my skills of integrating subject areas through my teacher
inquiry.

Goal 3:

Goal: Increase student learning by researching and learning about student’s cognitive
development.

Objective: I will research students cognitive development in terms of reading


development and deliver my new learnings to the intervention team.

Rationale: What is cognitive development in early childhood? - Outlines what cognitive


development is and the importance of understanding it.

NBPTS: Proposition 1: Teachers are committed to their students and their learning.

TLMD: Domain 2: Accesses and uses research to improve practice and student
learning.

Teacher Inquiry: I will increase my understanding of student’s cognitive development


and how it reflects in their learning.
