OPEN PIT MINING

OPEN PIT MINING, also known as open cast mining, is a type of

surface mining in which minerals are extracted from open pits in the
earth. When producing building materials and dimension stone, open-
pits are sometimes referred to as quarries. This kind of mining does
not require the use of extractive technologies.
In human acts, a man is fully responsible for the consequences of his
acts. Mining companies should have a concrete plan and scientific
basis on their methods on how they avoid destruction of landforms,
deprivation of water supply and most importantly, to protect the
livings of the indigenous people in the area.

Why is it Unethical?
It removes anything on the surface, this includes people, indigenous
peoples, animals, and forests, which are either destroyed or displaced.
This is against the categorical imperative of Immanuel Kant which
believes in the humanity principle wherein humanity must not be
treated as a means to an end but as an end to itself. Forceful removal
of people to their native lands is against the Universal law for human
rights.
