GOVT 2030 – PROJECT ADMINISTRATION

SEMESTER 2 - 2021/2022

Individual Assignment (20 marks)

1a. Define and explain what project management is. Explain the purpose of Project management
and state three (3) advantages and three (3) disadvantages of using this method of
administration/management to develop projects and deliver products/services in relation to the
operations, development and successful continuity of the public sector. (10 marks)

1b. Identify the different project management structures and critically assess why is it important
to understand and assess the organization’s culture, specifically in the public sector
organizations, before deciding what project management structure should be utilized to
complete a project? (10 marks)

You must use relevant and appropriate examples to justify and/or support your entire
answer.
INSTRUCTIONS

1. This assignment has two (2) parts. You must answer both parts.
2. Your completed assignment must include the following:
1. Cover page
2. Glossary (if applicable)
3. Acronym (if applicable)
4. Body (answers to each question)
5. Bibliography

3. Each answer must be distinctly identified by placing the question just above each response.

4. At least four (4) literacy sources (books, articles, websites, etc.) MUST be used and referenced
in the bibliography. UWI uses Chicago Manual Style for referencing.

5. The entire assignment (Question 1a and 1b) has a word count of 1000 – 1200 words.
The quality of your assignment should matter more than the quantity.

6. Note: ALL assignments must be submitted as a Word document.


• It must be typed neatly in font size twelve (12).
• Must be typed with a 1½” line spacing.

7. The assignment will be posted on Friday 11th February at 6:00pm and will
be due on Sunday 13th February 2022 (2 days) at 6:00pm.

8. All assignments must be submitted via MyElearning.

9. Acceptance of late submissions are at the discretion of the lecturer. If accepted, all late
submissions are subject to 25% less your overall mark. No submission can be made after
Day 2 of the deadline date.
