President : A very good morning, everyone.

I am glad to welcome all the managers to our first


meeting, thank you. Once again thank you for being present in this meeting. First of all, I would like
say welcome to Miss XXX for joining this company.

Miss XXX : Thank You for welcoming me. I would do my best for the company

President : For your information, Miss AA will be the secretary for today’s meeting. Miss AA, please
distribute the agenda for today meeting.

All: ( Received the agenda)

President : Did everyone received the agendas?

All : Yes, miss.

President : Okay. Are there any apologies for absence for today’s meeting? AA, would you please call

President : Okay, then. First of all, I would like all of you to introduce yourself as today is our first

meeting. Let everyone know each other.

DD : (Raise up hand) I’ll introduce myself first. My name is DD. My position is as Human Resource
Manager.

BB : My name is BB and my position is as Operation Manager.

Cc : My name is CC. Here, I am as Marketing manager.

AA : and my name is AA. My position is as Finance Manager. And also as secretary for today’s

President : Very well then. Now let us move to our agenda of the meeting. As you all know our
agenda for today is regarding to the issue that related to the Flexible Working Hour. So,I hear some of
the employee want the regular working our and some would prefer to flexible working hour. What
do you think about this issue?

BB : Miss, I would prefer to regular working hour.

President: May I know why??

BB: Because with the regular working hour, the working schedule can be coordinate better with
other employee and the superiors because of time we shared and common workspace, so it can
help to establish better working relationship.

AA: with regular working hour easier for us as the superior to do some planning and conduct a team
meeting and training when the collegues and other team have a common work hour.

President: I think we have a good start. Anyone have an idea regarding this issue?

CC: Me. I would prefer to flexible working hour

President: why?

CC: because during flexible time, we can manage our time better and have a flexible time with our
family and personal need.

President: Don’t you think that with the regular working time also the employee can spent time with
their family too??

CC: indeed. But the employee can increased their feeling of the personal control over schedule and
work environment. There is the reason why people choose to work for themselves. It is the control
issue. So, by allowing the employee to determine their own schedule and work environment, they
can appeal as entrepreneurial-spirit which is good for the organization.

DD: I agree with you,CC. With the flexible working hour, our employee can adjust their days and

hours for being in the office and allow them to work remotely. They also can avoid the traffic and

streeses of commuting during rush hour.

President: You got the point there..But..

CC: Sorry to interrupt..but..nowaday..the worker of the company is get increase as there is more
fresh graduate worker..so..it is more convenient for them to work in flexible time. Beside,they also
can save their money by reducing the consumption of commuting time and fuel costs. But,if the

employees are allowed to work from home, they can save more of their time, gas, wear and tear on

President : don’t you think that if we give our employee flexible working time, some of the employee
might not work efficiently and some of the worker who have done well might feel unfair.

AA: I do agree with you,miss president..because I think the flexible working time tend to distract the

employee focus on their work. This may result in their low productivity and poor time management.
Don’t you think so?

BB: I also think that if the worker with flexible time arrangement can come and go to the office at

the different time, it can affect their interpersonal relationship with other employee and make it

more difficult to establish rapport and teamwork.

CC: but…with the flexible working hour, we are open to recruit an outstanding employee since we
can offer them family-friendly flexible working schedules. We can extend our operation hour
especially customer service.

AA : hurm….i find out that if we give the employee the flexible working time, the management might
find a difficulty to monitor the employee’s performance.

BB: Beside, if we agree to give the employee with flexible working hour, we might added work to the
administrative staff since they have to make a special recording system for irregular work hour,
monitor the varied schedules and implement special policies for added security especially for
unscrupulous employees.

DD: As you all know, there are big company who offer flexible working time to their worker. As an
example, Apple Inc. Apple have hires AT HOME ADVISOR to assist with the customer support, touting
benefits of it with “Comfort, convenience and non-hassle commute are all reason people like work
from home. Not only Apple, company like Dell also offer flexible work option which include remote
work, flexi time, job sharing, part-time work and compressed work week. And they still survive until
today.

President : Can we take a summarized to what we have discussed just now? Maybe I’m the only one
who’s fuzzy but I want to be sure to follow through my commitment. I think enough for today, maybe
we can continue our discussion on our next meeting since I have appointment with our Top
