TEXT. ALBERT EINSTEIN

Was born in Germany on March 14,1879.

His family was Jewish and he always defended the Zionist cause. He
studied in Switzerland and served as a teacher in Zurich Because of the
advent of Nazism in 1933 he moved to the United States and settled in
Princeton. There, he pursued reseach in the fields of physics and
mathematics. He married twice. The first time, with Mileva Marich. They
had two sons. The second time with his cousin Elsa Einstein and they had
two daughter.
He became famous because of his theory of relativity. He took part in the
Manhattan Proyect Einstein received the Novel Prize of Physics in 1921.
He was once offered the presidency of Israel but he did not accept the
offering. Eisnstein has been considered as one of the best scientist of the
twentieth century.

MANUEL ELKIN PATARROYO

Was born in Colombia in 1946. Ever since he was a little boy his dream
was to become a doctor. He knew he has to study hard he never gave
upo. Once he finished his career, he went to Yale University to Specialize
in virology. He felt that there were many tropical diseases and that much
had to be done in this field. Later on he studied immunology at the
Rockefeller University in New York and at the Karolinska Institute in
Stockholm. He returned to Colombia and settled in Bogota, Where he
founded the Colombian Institute of Immunology. In 1987 he discovered a
vaccine against malaria.It was approved by the Scientific community in
1993. In 1994, Doctor Patarroyo was given the Prince of Asturias Award for
his Scientific and Technical Research.
 MARJA SKLODOWSKA
Better known as Madame Marie Curie was born in Warsaw, Poland on
November 7-1867. She was the daughter of a physics proffessor. In 1891
she decided to move to Paris to study at the Sorbonne where she
completed her studies in physics.
There she met Pierre Curie a brilliant Young physicist that was doing
research work in the field of magnetism. For them, it was love at first sight
and they got married in a very intimate ceremony. There were two
daughters of this unión. Both worked together and while Pierre worked
more in magnetisim, Marie worked in radiation.She was the first person to
use the term radioactive. In 1898 they announced the Discovery of two new
elements: polonium and radio. She baptized polonium in honor of her
country, Poland.
In 1903, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for the Discovery of
radioactivity. Pierre was hit by a cart horse and died in 1906. In 1911 she
received a second Nobel Prize, this time in Chemistry. She died in 1934 of
pernicious anemia due to her exposure to radiation.One of her daughter
continued her work.
