Global Warming: A Serious Threat Explained

1) Global warming is causing serious environmental effects such as climate change, melting polar ice caps, and rising sea levels. 2) It is forcing all living creatures to adapt to changes in seasons and temperatures, which can cause food shortages as some plants and animals cannot adapt fast enough. 3) Global warming threatens humanity as rising temperatures could eventually cause civilization to collapse if not slowed down. It is a serious global issue.

Glabal warming is a serious Environmental threat

Facilitator: A very good afternoon to all ,My name is Wei liang, the facilitator of the day.
Today, My team and I would be presenting a short interview on Global
warming. So, sit back and relax. we hope to have your participation in the Q
and A session later on…

Today, joining us for the discussion, we have, Miss tang Xiao Wen, Mr tan Yong
jin and Miss Chung Jiying. (pause, look back to the front)
THE GLOBAL temperature On earth has been rising over the years. It is due to
the rise of greenhouse effect caused by our daily activities which gives out
harmful greenhouse gases for example , -carbon dioxide. global warming
brings about many other serious environmental effects such as: climate change
,polar ice melting… which is what we will be discussing today.

Alright, let’s hear from our first speaker: Miss Tang.

Good afternoon Miss Tang, What’s your views on the effects on climate
changes caused by global warming?

1st Speaker : 1. Climate change is forcing every living creature on our planet to adapt to it.
As the global warming impact becomes stronger and stronger, which may
lengthen the seasons (especially winter and summer) , there will be a lot of
crops and plants cannot adapt , they will die, When they die, the animals lose
a source of food, along with their habitat. they may also die. When the plants
and animals die, ultimately affect the food available. Less food, or poorer
quality food, means that the human body is unable to repair, grow and defend
itself adequately, they will die too.
The planet does not only belong to us, as we are not the only living creatures
on earth. Animals also have the right to live, and we must not only care for our
survival but for their survival as well, because we must not forget that all
species are connected in so called "circle of life"。Circle of life does not
include only plants and animals but us too, and without the circle of life
there's no life at all.

2. Climate changes will increase Energy Demands

Colder winters and hotter summers increase the demand for energy
(electricity and natural gas), which currently causes a rise in the fossil fuels
being burned. The increase in the burning of fossil fuels causes more pollution
overall. Increased air pollution itself can cause respiratory illnesses, such as
asthma and bronchitis. Additionally, an increase in air pollution also affects the
pH of rainfall, resulting in "acid rain," which can directly affect human health
as well as harm plant and animal life--which humans depend on for survival.
Finally, more waste gasses present in air pollution (such as methane and
carbon dioxide) can affect climate change further by increasing global
warming.

Counter argument
many people mostly connect global warming with ice melting and polar bears.
Sadly polar bears are not the only animals affected with global warming.
Global warming isn't only affecting Polar Regions but the whole planet. Yes,
Arctic is really rapidly melting making polar bears survival very questionable,
but thousands of other animal species are struggling as well.

Many scientists believe how global warming will not have the worst impact on
animals that live in Polar Regions but on the ones that live in tropics. Many
tropical animal species are at great jeopardy of going extinct even with the
temperature rise of just a degree or two simply because these species are
familiar to live in environment within a very small temperature range, and any
temperature increase above this range is likely to cause their extinction as they
will have not enough time to adapt.

Facilitator: Thank You Miss Tang, (turn to look at YJ) how about you? Mr Tan. What’s
concern on the other serious environmental effects , the rise of sea level
caused by Global warming?

2nd Speaker:

Facilitator: By now, I believe most of us have a better understanding on the effects

caused. Last but not least, Let’s invite Miss Chung to share her views on the
topic of discussion today. Miss Chung please.

3rd speaker: THANK YOU FACILITATOR. Personally, I feels that Global warming is a serious
environmental effect, but looking at that, it causes other serious effects other
that environmental aspects. For example, it is a threat to humanity. If we do
not slow down the rate of global warming, eventually, the human civilization
will collapse , causing the human race at risk.
Global warming is a heated concern . It affects business, health and
environment. For example, the rise if sea level, polar ice melting, ocean
acidification, Cases of forest fires due to the heated environment and weather
changes.
But I believe, there is still a small aspect on the advantages of global warming.
Without it, the earth will be freezing. In some cold countries, during winter,
the cold is almost unbearable, especially after sunset. The temperature would
gradually decrease, and small animals or even the plants would be frozen to
death.
Other than that, it helps in the harvesting periods for the farmers. It helps in
speed up the rate of harvest and the harvesting period could actually increase
to at least 2 to 3 times a year! Hence, global warming may not be a bad thing.
Having said so, although global warming does have it’s advantages. but looking
back at the serious environmental effects that it has caused, there is still a
need for us, to play our part in conserving our mother earth.
According to the IPCC report, the global temperature will still increase ND THE
LAND AREAS WILL WARM FASTER THAN OCEAN TEMPERATURE. Especially land
areas in northern latitudes(during the cold season) heat waves and hot
extremes will increase. Increase in heavy rainfalls and mid continental areas
drying resulting droughts is also expected .snow and sea ice will continue to
melt and all these naturally leads to a direct threat to humanity. Hence, I
believe Global warming is a serious environmental threat and there is a need
for us to do our part to slow down the rate of damaged caused as we are
unable to stop global warming but to slow down the damages it caused.thank
you

Facilitator: we Have come to the end of our interview, after hearing from our speakers, we
would like to hear from our Audience on their opinions. Audience, I need your
