PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

NARRATIVE REPORT

Last February 7, 2022 we conducted a webinar about the Personal and Professional Development with
the resource speaker Ma'am Rhea Joy, MaED. First, she ascertained the contents on what we are going
to talk about and it is the professional teacher, professional attributes, personal attributes and what
does it take to become an effective teacher. Ma'am Rhea also give an overview concerning to be a
successful, students need effective/quality teachers who know what they're doing, why they're doing it
and how to do it well. She also discussed the Code of Ethics of Professional Teachers, 1997 as stated that
the professional teacher is the licensed professional who possesses dignity and reputation with high
morel values as well as the technical and professional competence he/she adheres to observe and
practice a set of ethicsl and moral principles, standards and values.

In addition, Ma'am Rhea Joy discussed about the professional attributes where professional teacher
perceives himself/herself as someone who can effective chane or learning because he/she is an
proficient in what and how he/she teaches. One of the attributes a professional teacher must posses is
the control of the knowledge base of teaching and learning and use of this knowledge to guide the
science and art of his/her teaching practice. One of the characters of a teacher that caught my attention
is the passion, because in teaching it is a compelling force that emerges from one's inborn love for
children and exude spontaneity in ministering to the needs of the students especially those experiencing
learning difficulty.

Through this webinar, I have learned and realized that teaching is a noble profession which comes with
so much responsibility and duty towards students. Teachers do not only teach and impart knowledge
but inspire and motivate students for life and take important steps in life. They keep working to boost
the confidence of students and direct them in the right direction. Being a teacher carries great
responsibility, but it is a fulfilling profession because the students’ achievements are not solely theirs to
celebrate. It is a teacher’s joy, too. As always said, without teachers, there would not be doctors,
engineers, or lawyers. Teachers are part of the fundamental foundation that cultivates the mind and
skills of a child.
