Start-Up is about adults who have dreams to achieve in the business field and it incorporates a

love triangle. This show is beautiful and well laid out. It depicts how to be a successful
entrepreneur who makes correct decisions inspiring the employers by overcoming all the
challenges and fallings. The title Start-Up, itself a pun on a word that indicates starting a
business as well as a relationship. The other thing that I like most is the whole drama is a
complete blend of inspiration, emotions and humour. The name SAND BOX and the story
behind that is amazing. It is a comparison that seems to show that starting up can have a fall. But
we can get up anytime.
The story portraits two sisters Seo Dal Mi and Won In Jae, who got separated during childhood
when their parents got divorced. Nam Do San, a brilliant software engineer who wants to start
his venture along with his two friends. Han Ji Pyeong, an investor who has a childhood
connection with Dal Mi and her grandmother.
The initial episodes consist of the flashback introducing the main characters. You get to
experience the story of Seo Dal Mi and Han Ji pyeong(HJP) who become pen-pals, comforting
each other with their letters through thick and thin. Seo Dal Mi is unaware of his identity and is
made to believe that a guy named Nam Do San is writing these letters to her.
A few years later, Dal Mi is still waiting to meet the guy who wrote letters for her. She shows no
interest in any other than him which makes her grandma often get annoyed. Nam Do San now
becomes a stand-in for HJP who constantly guides his every move.
Seo dal mi desperately wants to prove herself to her sister that she can be more successful than
her within three years and enters the sandbox, which provides an opportunity to build a start-up
company where her sister and Nam do san also enters. Then she and her sister get selected as
CEO's where they have to choose a group of 5 people in their company. Seo dal mi chooses Nam
do san and his two friends for technical work and a designer. To get the investors, a competition
is held where only five companies can be selected and get the funds for their company in which
both seo dal mi and her sister won. After that, there are various ups and downs in their journey.
Through all this journey, seo dal mi gets help from han ji pyeong for making good decisions. The
main subject - the tech entrepreneurship side of things - has been executed very well. I liked the
realistic portrayal of some of the experiences and challenges these folks encounter. Whether it's
their desire for fame and investment in the early days, the lack of experience; or in the later part -
the dilemma about shares, exploitation by corporates, covetous frauds & hackers or even
blackmail by despicable journalists and rivals - many such things have been covered well. Their
success stories and breakthroughs in innovation are inspiring.
I loved the growth of each character as the story went on. How each one of them realised their
mistakes and tried to better themselves was very nice to watch. And I love it especially when the
characters apologize for their mistakes. One lesson this drama taught me is that it's okay to take
risks sometimes. It could end up with us being hurt but it still would be a learning experience. It
could help us to not make the same mistake again. Another thing I loved about these characters is
how real they are. None of them is perfect and they all have issues that they need to fix by
themselves and some things don't even need fixing since that's just who they are. They are all
humans and humans have flaws and it's okay as long as they are not harming anyone. Overall It's
good business-oriented series.
