Question 1.

Read the V-STEP writing test 3-5 test specification, give comment on the
strengths and weaknesses of the following test.
Strengths
 Input corpus is presented in the form of text which is information and topics relating
to familiar areas of life, written in the language of level 3 according to the 6-level
Foreign Language Competency Framework for Vietnam.
 There are two parts in the Writing module. The first task is a letter with different
communication functions and the second one is an essay that expresses opinions and
personal views.
 The length of the input corpus meets the V-STEP writing test 3-5 test specification.
The length of the input email in part 1 is 83 words. In part 2, there is an extract from
an article about the Internet following by a requirement of writing an essay. The
length of this extract is 68 words.
Weaknesses
The input email in part 1 includes too many questions (6 consecutive questions)

Question 2.

Based on the specifications for writing in VSTEP level 3-5 and the sample task 2 item in the
writing section, develop a Task 2 ( Part 2) item for the writing test.

Question 3.

Based on the specifications for writing in VSTEP level 2 and the sample task 1 items in the
writing section, develop Task 1 items for the VSTEP 2 writing test.
