Meeting 1-4 2. Present Tense (Simple present and Present Progressive)

simple present (nominal and verbal) – present progressive
Language function ;
(introducing ourselves, introducing somebody else, meeting somebody
new, describing jobs and job desks)(stating ongoing situation at work and
in the class)
Extra language function :
a. Terms in teaching and education, and how to apply them
b. Daily expression (preposition and direction)

HOW TO TEACH 3. Present Perfect


IN ENGLISH Grammar focus : present perfect (have/has + V3)
Meeting 5-16 Language function : checking understanding, stating the undone and
done activity

How to fix incorrect sentences (broken English)
Terms and expressions at work

4. Simple Past – Past Continues


Grammar focus :
Past Tense (Simple Tense and Past Continues)
Language function :
stating past activity / progressive past activity (both focusing in classrooom
situation)

Imperative (making rules in the class)

5. Opening the class : greetings, taking the attendance, finding


out who is coming and who is not, asking the reason of the absences,
complimenting students’ attendance, encouraging students to atten the
class
6. Pre – teaching A : explaining the syllabus, emphasizing some
important matters about related syllabus, explaining some technical ways
of conducting assignment, explaining classroom’s rules, explaining
some rewards and punishments
7. Pre – teaching B : preparing the students to focus on the lesson, triggering
students’ attention, doing brain storming, introducing the topics,
connecting with the students, giving a hook, checking their previous
assignment and giving comment toward it

4. Stating present, past, and future situation
Grammar focus : v1/v2/v3/modals of present, past, and future
Language function : asking and reporting activities (classroom
context)

Common expressions:
 I need to go to the gym. I’m really out of shape.
 I want to get in shape before the summer!
 My personal trainer is in great shape – there isn’t an ounce of fat on his body.
Common expressions:
 Let’s stretch before we start running.
 Stretching helps reduce exercise-related injuries.
 Breathe deeply and count to 30 as you stretch.

Common expressions:
 Be careful not to pull a muscle.
 Ouch! I think I pulled a muscle in my leg.
 If you pull a muscle, you should apply ice to reduce swelling.
 Out of breath = When you have difficulty breathing after exercising hard.
 Catch your breath = When you stop to wait for your breathing to return to normal.
