Exploring Ethical Practices The Value of String

Business Ethics in Hospitality Industry Narrative

Report

By: Jozel A. Culangan

The webinar lasted over four hours, which was wisely used to widen the issue of

ethical norms to consider when conducting research not only in the hospitality

industry but also in other industries. Research isn't only about the industry's

processes; it's also about the individuals who work in it. As a result, the host

offered studies and codes to back up his assertion that human rights have been

violated without their knowledge. In this regard, the presenter supplied graphic aids

outlining the ethical issues to be examined as well as the researcher's

responsibilities. He claims that researchers should protect volunteers against injury

as a result of their participation in a study, whether it is emotional, physical, or

legal. Research by Yale University psychologist Stanley Milgram on "Obedience to

Authority" was also presented. He conducted research on the clash between

authority and personal conscience, and he revised a lot of his original scripts

because individuals were obeying too much. Except for one person-subject,

everything in his experiment was manufactured. Informed consent, voluntary

involvement, falsification, deception, approval from the organization/location, the

benefits, plagiarism, fabrication, and authorship were among the other ethical

problems discussed throughout the webinar. Is it ethical to observe individuals in

public without their knowledge, as defined by informed consent? That is, it is for

me. I believe it is unusual enough to frighten folks. In addition, there should be no

evidence of intentionally misinterpreting works or manipulating facts to achieve

personal goals and objectives in the study. There should be no evidence of factual

change or embellishment in a study. To avoid deception, the study should not show

respondents or participants being misled or exploited. The researchers should not

deceive them or engage in similar behavior. Permission from the chosen place

should be considered from the beginning before interviewing the individuals. The

researcher must obtain written consent from the individuals whose data will be

collected. Also, be sure to highlight the advantages of your study to the institution's

management or administration. Plagiarism was not unfamiliar to us, as it occurs in

both research and other written works. It should not contain any signs of

plagiarism, as this would negate the study's uniqueness. With deliberate

misinterpretation and false statistics, the outcome reported should not be tampered

with or created. Last but not least, authorship is an ethical concern. It is the

researcher's job to report truthfully and create correct data. To summarize, we

should always be honest when conducting research and not infringe on anyone's

rights or values in any manner.
