ATTENDANCE MONITORING SYSTEM USING FACE SCANNER FOR NOBLE HOSPICE

Chapter 1

THE PROBLEM

Introduction

Project Context

Noble for Hospice Insurance Company uses a pen and notebook to track

employee attendance. Employees use this system to write their names, arrival

time, and signature in ruled columns in a notebook. This information is used to

calculate employees' salaries based on the number of times they were late or

absent. The problem with this system is that employees have a tendency to falsify

entries.

Organizations of all sizes use time and attendance systems to track when

employees begin and end their shifts, as well as the department in which they

work. However, tracking meals and breaks, the type of work performed, and the

number of items produced is also common. Organizations must track when

employees work as well as when they are not working. Vacation, compensation,

Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and jury duty must all be documented.

Some organizations also keep detailed attendance records, such as who calls in

sick and who arrives late.

Organizations benefit greatly from a time and attendance system. It

enables an employer to have complete control over all of their employees'

working hours. It aids in labor cost control by reducing overpayments, which are

frequently caused by transcription, interpretation, and intentional error. Manual

processes, as well as the staff required to maintain them, are also eliminated.

Companies with many employees may need to install multiple time clock

stations to expedite the process of getting all employees to clock in and out

quickly or record activity in dispersed locations. We all know one simple truth in

today's business world: TIME IS MONEY! We strive to keep the time it takes to

complete even the most basic tasks to a bare minimum.

Concerning this, the researchers decided to create a Web-Based

Attendance Monitoring System Using Face Recognition System for Noble

Hospice Insurance Company.

Objectives of the Study

The primary aim of the study was focused on developing a Web-Based

Attendance Monitoring System Using Face Recognition for Noble Hospice Insurance to

automate their attendance System. Specifically, it aimed to:

1. Determine the information requirements needed in the development of the

proposed system;

2. Design a web-based and user-friendly system; and

3. Test and evaluate the usability of the proposed system in terms of ISO-25010

quality standard.
