CRIME

In today's generation it is quite obvious that the number of crime is

increasing day by day. There has always been crime, and there will always be
crime as long as the causes of these crimes are not dealt with in a suitable
manner. Crime is an act that has been timeless and has been committed
practically since the start of time. Many factors can be involved when considering
the causes of crime. Of these factors poverty, lack of education, and peer
pressure are among the leading causes.

The reason why some people commit crime is due to poverty. Many of the
people in poverty are desperate to do something about their situation so they
turn to crime as a means of doing so. In many cases, the people see the money
that can come out of crime. Such things as robbing banks and convenient stores
offer a good source of income as long as they are not caught. It states that the
reasons people in poverty commit crimes are to fulfill needs that are not met on
low incomes, lack of love and respect from people close to you, and for the rush
and excitement for it all. The main idea linking these reasons for crime is the lack
of self-respect the people in poverty have. A negative correlation between
education and crime may arise because of unobserved individual characteristics,
such as low risk aversion, lack of patience, or low ability, which simultaneously
place individuals at high risk of both crime and low educational outcomes. It
appears that immaturity amongst mid-adolescents leads to impulsivity and
aggressive behavior. Couple these factors with making poor friend choices, and a
recipe for negative peer pressure influence, including exposure to and engaging in
criminal behavior, is created. Peer pressure can lead a teen to engage in activities
that they witness adults doing or their peers have normalized, such as drugs and
alcohol.

On the other hand, individuals in societies can be of great help to cut down
on the number of crimes being committed. In order for a society to be a safe
place to live in, all society members including the governments and people must
take necessary measurements to keep it a crime-free place.
