and client, Miss daisy since it reflects the Caribbean setting and has a positive attitude

Relationship between Miss daisy and pinkie- they are familiar to eachother

C. Non linguistic factors- social factors- social class, age ,education, gender

Linguistic factors- Language acquisition,- has the use of language influenced by the specific
language used in the speaker’s environment

Pinkie’s language is motivated by the linguistic factor of language acquisition as she is a

Caribbean speaker by birth and her use of creole reflects her nationality as a Caribbean
speaker

Pinkie’s language (2nd paragprah) - Pinkie code switches as she uses the acrolectal variety
when speaking about England, which reflects the superiority of England to an Inferior
Caribbean country and hence it is motivated by non-linguistic factors of social class.
D. Video presentation- video and oral

Use of vocalics and paralanguage highlight the pronunciation of words as well as specific
accents of these characters as Caribbean speakers.

Body language and facial expressions can also highlight this. (give examples)

People here have no discipline- body language, hand movement or shaking her head
defiantly

Listen you can wash my hair at least some sunlight coming through- body language- point
towards the sun

Use of artefacts- to show Caribbean setting- stack of caribbean magazines, palm

trees, coconut trees outside the window, the way they dress (shorts and a loose top and
