incorporate the tightly compacted strokes from the dry-point

Stoffels' technique in outlining his subject with For this piece I was also inspired by Bao Pham and his colored pencil

For the skin aspects, since I planned for my "light source" in the painting to on the right, so in my logic most of the
shadows would be on the left side. So for the face I experimented, by putting the shadow on the right side in order to
depict the shadow that the bangs is giving the subject. However on the hand on the subject, I tried putting the shadow
along with the bottom outlined line, since it looked weird putting the on the right side of hand. The results were a bit
awkward because of so. For the clothes, I tried out the same method that I did with the skin, but it did not work out
very well, and it looks like a block of random color that just happened to be on the shirt. So I needed to come up with
something different. Since the first technique for the clothes didn't work out, I tried another one. Which was adding
the shadows color to where the creases and wrinkles on the shirt would be at. Which worked way better compared to
what I was doing on the right side of the painting. Adding shadows at the intended creases and wrinkles places,
added more texture and dimension to the pieve.
Looking back, I liked this project as it express a theme that I wanted to expressand it was something new compared to what I was doing before. The
style was more modern and leans a bit to pop-art. I am fond of the the theme, as it was something that is prevalent in the world right now and
there is countless news to it. I felt like I could have made the illustration more "offensive" and 'gruesome" looking in order to express the theme
more, however I still like how it currently look like. The presentation aspects is very nice, the primary colors combination works really well and
stands out along with each other. The mask as the finishing touch, as it really became the focus of the piece since the dimension in the painting is
quite flat. The outlined from Stoffels really pulled the whole painting together, but the color came out more saturated then the inspired piece.

Something that I wanted for all my possible design was something call a
¨Donut¨ outlet that can let any plug be used in it. In this way, it can be use
internationally (since different regions of the globe uses different plugs)
and maximize the use of my design, so that people don´t have to buy
different extension cords because of such a small problem.
Through this interview I was able to learn more electricity problems that occurs in underdeveloped countries like Vietnam from my aunt. In
underdeveloped countries, electricity outlets or plugs can be quite harmful for children and kids . The fact being that since in underdeveloped
countries many of the houses and it´s layout can not support electricity properly or safely. So most of the time, whenever contact is made with
electricity outlets, there is high possibility of being electrocuted which very dangerous to babies and children. So I want to be able to make this
extension plug/cord ¨baby proofed¨ so that possibilities of such problems will decrease. My final design was inspired by Apple and it´s design of
the ¨Homepod.¨ I had always love Apple´s designs in its products, I love the modern yet sleek look that the product have. Although it is very simple
and minimalist yet the technology is very complex. I want my design to reflect such elegance in it as well. What intrigued me to the ¨Homepod¨
was it´s shape and the possible things that I can make it into instead of just a smart speaker.

Inspo & Planning
My first idea was to create a ¨click-able¨ extension cord. I
was inspired by mechanics of LEGOS and wondered if I
would be able to tied that mechanics into my extension
cord.It basically was an extension cord that had the ability
to add or take away how may plugs there is, until it is at
max point of safety. Since the plugs are able to lock in and
out to one another, I designed it so it would be able to
rotate 180 degrees so that it would be easier for the user. In
addition, the cable wire of the extension cord shall be
retractable as that would be more neat and organized.
My experimentation of this project was mostly me trying to comprehend how to use professional editing sites
such as Photoshop and Photopea. I spent most of the time figuring which button does what and what to click to
make the program do what I want it to do or editing the pictures so that the sketches can be seen nicely since
sometimes the scanner goes a bit too light. So I had to darken the picture and add more contrast so tha t the
sketches I drew will stand out more. I try to edit the pictures so that they all match and matches the white
background as possible without whitewashing the own photo. Overall, I think I did a pretty good job especially
with coming up with a new extension cord that could meet all my requirements for an ¨ideal extension cord¨
while still solving my problem. The design chosen for next semester pleases me as well as I think I did a good job of making it
look aesthetically pleasing and practical as well. For my photo-shop job, I have mixed feelings about it as I like the color
scheme, how I edit my photos and the top layout of the board, but I felt like I could have done more on the bottom part as it is a
bit empty. So I could have made the images larger or add more things into the board. My edited photos however came out
pretty nice as I spent the majority of the time editing them, so I am quite proud of them. The mounting however, if I were to be
honest, could have been done way better. I focused too much in lining the printed poster and board in one area that I forgot
about the other so the poster had some paper poking out on the sides. So I had to trim some excess paper.

my socket to be in a shape of a sphere, as I plan for

make could possibly mean that these sockets will
be wireless.
My main experimentation for this piece would be the plastic used for the power strip and the struggles in trying to make the
plastic carton bend in the way I wanted it too. I first began by trimming the middle of where I want it to bend. Since it is the
middle, it is very sturdy, so I had to do a hefty amount of cutting and trimming. However, even though when I have almost cut
through the whole carton it still didn't bend the way I wanted so then I had to think of an alternative. So then I decided to cut the
24 socket carton into two, so that I have two 12 socket carton left. I then brainstormed of what should I put in between these two
carton in order for them to bend and fit in the corner neatly. Which I was then able to find some left over cardboard from
Christmas. Then I used it as the bending part of the extension powerstrip, by hot gluing the two carton on the ends of the
cardboard. Before being the middle of the cardboard strip, which then make it way easier to bend. In general, I am quite
disappointed with the outcome of this project as the handicraft of the piece could have done better then using plastic egg
cartons. But as the pandemic threw us off, it was the best material that I got at hand. I was very happy with creative process as I
was able to add additional aspects to my coord that differentiate it to existing extension powerstrip. I am pleased to see how the
extension powerstrip branched out to be targeted for average families instead of just families who wanted to protect their
babies from electricity. If possible I would like to make a better prototype of the recent prototype with better materials then egg
cartons.

paint roses that could show the highlights and the texture of the petals.
Through out the project for the roses, I typically use a small flat brush in
order to achieve the certain texture and blending.
I started off my making my canvases and putting
them together. I did this by first assembling the

Lastly, I cleaned up my edges to make the
painting look better. For the last technique, I tried alternating the colors
on the petals with either dark red or red. Afterwards
I would go in with white to create texture in the
middle of the petal and shade a darker red into the
lighter red petals. I didn´t do with this one as although the petals outside
looked really nice, it was hard to paint the bud on the inside. Theme
wise, which was to showcase how traditional beliefs of how woman must get
married despite now in modern times women can live independently, I got the
theme down with the use of the traditional Vietnamese wedding dress that the
subject is wearing and the roses that are suffocating her. Basing off of my
inspiration, my use of female subject seems quite lacking compared to
Mucha´s, so I will have to come back to the background and add in some
details such as Mucha´s, and for the patterns that were based after Klimt´s can
be emphasized more if I were to add them on the top of the dress.
