When a country develops its technology, the traditional skills and ways of life die out.

It is pointless to
try and keep them alive. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

It is stated that the advancement of technology causes the disappearance of traditional skills and
outdated lifestyles of a nation. Although I agree that some old-fashioned traditional skills don’t keep
pace with the industrialization of a country, I still believe that some lifestyles and particular traditions
should be preserved for national cultural identity.

On the one hand, it is essential to replace traditional skills with the operation of machine. Firstly,
traditional skills aren’t able to meet the demands of the modern world which are top speed and great
efficiency. As a result, industries still utilizing traditional skills can’t fully develop and expand without the
application of technology in their production. For example, traditions of making hand-made candies
handed down from generation to generation have to be replaced by advanced technology to reach high
sale figures.

On the other hand, I believe that valuable traditional skills and lifestyles should be protected. Firstly,
national traditions and ways of life have been developed for a long time. These cultural heritages
represent a nation in cultural respect which contribute to the diversity of cultures of the world.
Secondly, core spiritual and moral values play significant role in educating younger generations. For
example, Vietnamese moral values such as respect to the old, courage, and industry are incorporated in
civil lessons at schools to train well-behaved and responsible people.

In conclusion, there are some outdated skills which should be eliminated for high productivity in
manufacture, however, people of a nation should attempt to protect their cultural heritage.
