1. What is/are the rationale of maintenance planning present in the given case study?

Maintenance planning is carried out with the use of a maintenance plan that is designed to
serve a purpose that is in line with the organization's core values and aims. The company's
asset force is projected to be strengthened as a result. Three out of four reasons for
maintenance planning were discussed in the case study. It entails enhancing the facility's
resiliency, addressing major stakeholder concerns, and showing practical long-term viability.

Nike's production and goals are made possible by its information technology systems and
networks, which allow them to move quickly and efficiently. From 2004 to 2013, Nike launched
the Nike Materials Sustainability Index (NMSI), a data-base with product information for Nike
designers. In 2013, Nike combined the NMSI's data set with a user-friendly interface to launch
the "MAKING app," a tool that assists designers across industries in making smarter shoe
choices to promote strict quality control and increase productivity. This includes the
justification for maintaining planning, enhancing facility reliability, and meeting the needs of
important stakeholders. Nike now responds to the needs of its employees in order to sustain
and allow uninterrupted production and delivery of products and services. Because most
workers are right-handed, the corporation ensures that raw materials are delivered to the
workplace during convenient hours to prevent disrupting normal operations. Demonstrating
practical sustainability is covered in this section.

2. What type/s of maintenance method/s are being employed by Nike?

Maintenance is described as efforts made to keep a company's assets in the same condition
and performing at the same level as when they were new. Nike's maintenance strategy
incorporates both planned and preventative maintenance. Nike uses Shutdown maintenance
as part of their planned maintenance schedule. Given that the company's production requires
a continuous mode of operation, the information technology systems enable it to run even
during a total shutdown. They use condition-based maintenance to avoid loss of function or
failure by selecting and monitoring a factor that shows efficiency or other characteristics of
performance.

3. Do you think Nike is successful in the implementation of its current maintenance method? If
yes, explain your answer and if not, propose other means of maintenance method for the
company.

Nike, according to the case study, places a high value on its information technology systems
and networks. Nike is now the world's leading athletic footwear maker, demonstrating that
whatever strategy or upkeep Nike employs is plainly successful. Technological systems are
essential, particularly in light of today's rapid technological growth. It simplifies and
streamlines production, manufacturing, and monitoring, among other tasks. Nike's
maintenance methods are all IT-based, making them cost-effective and allowing operations to
continue indefinitely. To remain the premier manufacturer of sports footwear today, the
company's maintenance planning must be aligned with their commercial objectives.
