1.1.1 Individual Grants Programme - Research Grants

Central form of the research funding
Used to fund staff, scientific instrumentation, consumables, travel as well as most other financial
requirements
Institution hosting the project is required to supply the necessary core support and resources

1.1.2 Individual Grants Programme - Scientific Networks

Objective: scientific exchange and cooperation on topics of common interest, to strengthen the
ties to the international research community
Group of people who will work on a common research topic to attain a specific outcome
Duration up to three years
Members may include young and senior researchers from Germany and abroad

1.1.3 Individual Grants Programme - Research Fellowships

To enable researchers at an early stage of their career to carry out a clearly defined research
project at a place of their choice abroad or to acquaint themselves with anew scientific research
methods
Personal, non-transferable award, limited to a maximum of two years
German researchers from all disciplines (doctorate) and international researchers from all
disciplines (doctorate):
Have been resident in Germany for several years and have completed at least three years of
scientific work as a doctoral or postdoctoral researcher in the German research system and state
that they wish to continue to pursue their research in Germany in the future
Basic fellowship plus monthly lump sum payment to cover maintenance and travel costs incl.

Supports young researchers in achieving independence at an early stage of their career
Young postdocs gain the qualifications required for a university teaching career
Young researchers from all disciplines up to 4 years after obtaining a doctorate, at least 2 years
of postdoc experience, substantial international research experience (12 months during
doctorate or postdoc or comparable scientific collaboration with researchers abroad)
Foreign applicants expected to continue career in Germany after completion of funding period
Previous track record, outstanding publication in high-ranking international specialist journals or
