I am applying for this program because of my interest in medicine.

Being a doctor is not

only about fixing problems, but it is also about taking care of the patient as a whole and your

program covers patient care along with theory and practicals, and it also tends to my urge of

wanting to learn something new at least every week which makes it my top choice.

Outside the classroom, I have done many things. For example, I took a first aid course at

St. John’s ambulance centre that is recognized by the Hong Kong government. The course was

about 30 hours long. As a student there, I learnt all the basics of first aid, like, how to treat

wounds, how to use an AED, How to approach a casualty safely, and much more. This course

helped me learn how to keep heavily injured people alive and overall, what are the basic manners

and protocols I must follow, even if I am treating an unconscious patient.

Another example of something I did outside the classroom was Grade 9 science tutoring.

This was done as an extra activity and not as an official volunteering, so it was left off of my

resumé. I taught 2 of my peers science when I was in grade 9 because they were having trouble

understanding the concepts. Every day after school, I used to take up questions that were covered

in class that day and helped them finish their homework while making sure they understood what

they were learning. This helped me learn how to manage my time more efficiently and how to

learn new things while teaching people.
