a. Default username will be as your name in the email (For example ABCD@va.jo -> username will be ABCD)
b. The password for you users will be sent by email (this password will be changed later on)
3. Prepare the Synology Drive folder structure before proceeding any further
a. In the ClickUp task for setting up Synology, there should be a Batch (.BAT) files. Download the file. Make
sure before running it that the letter of you fast drive is “D:” if so, continue by running the “Create
Synology Folder Structure” BAT file that you just downloaded. It will automatically create empty folders
that you will need for your Synology drive setup.
b. Check if the folders were created correctly by going to the “D:\” directory. There should be a new folder
called “VAFiles”, inside this folder should be 11 folders, named as shown below.
c. During your first couple of months at Volt Automation you will only be granted access some of these
folders. So in the following steps we will link the folder you have access to (on Synology side) to the
relevant newly created files.
Note: in the picture below, you will be able to see the folders you have access to.
h. Navigate to the folder structure created in step 3.C (D:\VAFiles) and click the folder with the same name
as the folder chosen previously (_Cs).
Important: UNCHECK “Create an empty SynologyDrive folder” before clicking ok (do this for all further
iterations for the rest of the folders later on)
i. Double check the names of the chosen folders from the “Synology Drive server” and the “Local folder”,
they must be identical.
j. Next, make sure to have “Enable On-demand Sync to save disk space on your computer” box ticked. This
is to ensure faster initial sync and more free space on your PC. Later on, the option of keeping a
permanent local copy of certain folders can be done for active folders of projects that you are working
on.
k. Before clicking “Done”, click on the “Advanced” button at the bottom left of the menu. You will be
presented with a menu. Click on the “Sync Mode” tab.
l. After clicking on the “Sync Mode” tab, UNCHECK the “Enable advanced consistency check” option, then
click “Apply”, to exit the menu. Note: don’t forget to repeat steps 4.k and 4.l for future folders.
m. Setting up the first folder is finished. Click “Done”. After clicking “Done” you will be greeted with a brief
introduction about Synology. Glance through the introduction and then proceed to the next step to
configure the rest of the folders.
n. Click “Create” on the top middle, to proceed with configuring the rest of the folders.
o. Make sure the first option (The s.va.jo Synology NAS) is selected then click on “Next”
p. Repeat steps 4.e to 4.k, but instead of the “_Cs” folder do the next folder in the list from step 3.c, which
should be _Libraries. Next, keep repeating this step until you finish all the folders you have access to from
step 3.c
Note: Exception for VAInstaller (you might not have access to it), this folder will be linked to a local folder
on E:\ drive not D:\.
q. After finishing setting up all the drive folders, it is time to setup the “Shared with me” folder. On the main
menu of the Synology drive client, click on the “Edit Connection” button, on the top right of the page.
r. Click on the “Shared with me” tab. Check the “Enable syncing the ‘Shared with me’” option. Later on,
under the Folder location section.
s. Click on “Change” to change the file directory of the “Shared with me” folder. To set the folder location
correctly to “D:\VAFiles\Shared with me”, follow the next step.
t. Navigate to the folder structure created in step 3 (D:\VAFiles) and choose the “Shared with me” folder
(UNCHECK “Create a Shared with me folder” before clicking ok).
v. Finally, after finishing the setup process, your Synology Client home screen should look similar to this.
Please note that you will have less folders than the picture shown below, this is because, at the start, you
will have access to less folders.
5. Change your password
a. After configuring your Synology Drive, open a browser and type the following in the address bar:
b. After clicking on the link, you might come by a warning, as shown below. Press on “Advanced”.
c. After clicking on “Advanced”, click “Continue to s.va.jo (unsafe)”. You will only have to do steps 5.a and
5.b once. After that clicking on the link will directly take you the log in page.
d. Now you will be presented with the log in page. Sign in using your username and password (sent to you
by email) from step 1.
e. Click on the little profile icon and then click on “Personal”.
f. Under the “Account” tab, you can change your password as seen below. Note that your password should
contain a mix of: Letters, numbers, and special characters (like @, #, $, …).
g. The setup process of Synology concludes here, if anytime in the future you forget your password proceed
to the same link from step 5.a and then click on “Forgot your password?”. After filling in your username,
an email with the reset link will be sent to your Volt Automation email.
6. Move the Synology drive client icon to be beside the clock on the task bar by a simple drag and drop

7. Rename your PC name on Synology
a. Click on Edit Connection
b. Rename computer name to as your PC name: your email account (without @va.jo) + “-PC”
d. Hit ok
