RUSSBERGH M. JUSTINIANI
BSED-1C

1. The epic of Gilgamesh is very important to the world literature as it is the oldest
and the first great masterpiece of world literature. The epic of Gilgamesh is an
important milestone in the history of world literature as it becomes enormously
influential. In addition to this, it tells us about the Mesopotamian culture that
emerges from this myth.
2. The death of Enkidu’s creates big impingement to Gilgamesh in a way that he
becomes more human. He realized that human are meant to die and not to live
forever,no matter how strong, how powerful, or godly you are. Enkidu’s death
brings so much sadness and pain to Gilgamesh.
3. The snake symbolize as the symbol of trickery and deception in the Biblical story.
In the Epic of Gilgamesh the snake follow the tracks of Gilgamesh all the way to
the flower of immortality, therefore the snake may represent immortality.
4. Gilgamesh is desperate to become immortal because of the fact that he has fear of
dying and suffering as what happened to his colleague Enkidu after they fought
and kill Humbaba and the Bull.
5. Gilgamesh and Enkidu was different from each other in a way the Gilgamesh
was the absolute ruler of the great city Uruk. A two thirds of god and one-third of
human, he is known as the greatest king on the Earth and entitled as the
superhuman ever. Despite of these, he is abusive and harsh to his people. On the
other hand, Enkidu was describe as a wild man, a strong man just like a dozens of
animals and he is a subhuman.\

ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION

1. The narrator which is the boy was mindful and hesitated about going to school, the
mere fact that at that young age he didn’t yet fully understand why he needs to go to
school.
2. I must say that the little boy firstly experienced social interactions with his
classmates wherein, he experienced to play different games like swinging, the
vaulting horse and ball games. He experienced singing to the music room together
with his colleagues singing their first songs. They also had they first introduction to
language, he saw the earth through the example of globe and its continents and
countries. He learned about numbers and reading about the story of how was the
universe created, they ate, took a little nap and shared love with his friends.
3. The father in the story was a loving and joyful. He treat his son in a way that he want
to boost up his son’s confidence by giving him a word [be a man] and motivates him.
4. The boy is surprised and disappointed because he taught that the teacher was kind
and benign in the beginning of the day and also becomes angry and scolds them.
5. The half a day spent in school is thus an allegory for the way in which an entire life
can seem to last only “ half a day “. Looking on the bigger picture, the school
symbolize as life wherein, we can all experienced different kinds of games, sing a
song we want, learned some things about the world, count numbers, ate foods and
take a nap together with our family. Those that the boy experienced together with his
classmates. Those experiences signifies happiness and joyful moments in our life but
not all the time, sometimes we experienced fear, sadness and pain just like what
happened when the teacher becomes angry and scolds them, though not mentioned in
the story as a young student I will feel fear and sad if my teacher becomes angry and
scolds us.
6. In comparison, we had similarities during my first time coming to my school I
experienced all what had been narrated in the story excluding taking a nap in the
school because it is strictly prohibited. Aside from that, the boy and I was not similar
on the attitude in coming to the school he was mindful and don’t want to go to school
but I am excited and confident.
7. The boy asked a question to his father in the beginning why school? And after the
school when his father did not pick him up he walked outside the school way back to
his home, this when he started to ask many questions about the things he noticed
around him. He is confused and start asking, where is the street lined with the
garden? Where it had disappeared to? When all these vehicles invaded it? And when
did all these hordes of humanity come to rest upon its surface? How all these hills of
refuse to come to cover its side? And where were the fields that bordered? He felt
confused about what is happening, his head spun and almost went crazy for all the
messy things he see and noises he hear. He added, how can all these things happened
in a half a day, between early morning and sunset? Asking himself where is home?
The boy turned out be an old man in last part of the story.
8. The boy who turns out to be an old man is on his way home but unable to cross the
the street because of the traffic, and then a young a lad offers him to help him across
the road and called him a grandpa.
9. The ending of the story half a day the boy is walking on his way to home and he was
called a grandpa because the narrator creates a what we called transition to the ending
of his life. The home represents death and afterlife.
10. The story tells us that life could be challenging and hard but it is full of excitement
and happiness. It talks about the life of human and the stages if we look on the bigger
picture.

Write a brief essay: what is the meaning of the “parable of the prodigal son”

Parable is a short story that teaches us a moral or spiritual story it is especially known
as one of the stories told by Jesus Christ and recorded in the Bible. One of the famous
stories that Jesus told us was the “Parable of the Prodigal son” that brings light and hope
for the sinners who wants to go back in righteousness.

The “Parable of the Prodigal son” is a story about two son and a father, the younger
son asked his father to give his share of the state so the father divided his property
between the old son and the younger son. After getting the share of the younger son, he
chose to go and set off for a distant country, he embezzled his money doing his vices and
live wild until nothing left to his money and suffered from hungriness because that
country where he set off experienced severe famine. The prodigal son hired himself out
to a citizen of that country who sent him to his fields to feed pigs until he realized that he
needs to back to his father but not as a son but as a servant for he is not worthy to be
called a son of his father because he is a sinner. When the son is a long way off, his
father saw him and filled with compassion for him and he ran to his son, threw his arms
around him and kissed him. The son said to him ‘I have sinned against heaven and
against you, I am no longer worthy to be called your son’. Despite of this his father
accepted him with all his heart, they kill the fattened calf they celebrate and have a feast.
When the older son went home, he become angry and refused to go in and said to his
father’ Look, all this years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders.
Yet you never gave me a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends, but when a
son of yours who was squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you killed
a fattened calf for him! His father replied, my son you’re always with me, and everything
I have is yours. But we had to celebrate and be glad because this brother of yours was
dead and is alive; he was lost and is found.

The story tells us about a son who spent his money from useless things, spent his
money for his vices and for the prostitutes, a son who becomes sinner yet find his way
home and repent. The prodigal son teach us a lesson that shows us how pleased God is
when a sinner repents and comes back to him, God as our heavenly Father is always
ready and have an open arm to receive his children who loses their faith and becomes
sinners. God loves us despite of our wrongdoings, he forgives us as long as we repent
and ready to his child again. Another lesson to insert was that when the older son become
angry to his father and to his brother when they celebrated the coming back of his
prodigal brother this part of the parable also tells us not don’t be angry or jealous when
God showered his blessings to others knowing that you have all the things because you
are with God.
