Successful Drilling Horizontal well in shallow, unconsolidated and

viscous oil field Block#6 Fulla North East Field (FNE).

Abstract
Accurate horizontal wellbore positioning is required a better collaboration between all related disciplines
like geologists, reservoir engineers, drilling engineers and directional drillers for planning and proper
.communication in real time geo-steering via a brilliant utilization of MWD&LWD in the execution phase

Fulla North East has shallow and viscous oil with unconsolidated formation, put into production
on Oct.01, 2009. Most vertical wells in this field have been drilled up to 700m TVD, and the
horizontal well drilled up to1128 meter Measured Depth (MD)
The objective of this paper, is to demonstrate the designing and drilling of the horizontal well for the
purpose of reaching and hitting the predetermined target at the landing point properly and smoothly, then
to maintain well bore laterally within the reservoir.
In this paper, to reach Bentiu (B1b) formation as an identified target, based on wellbore trajectory design
through geological modelling, drilling placement operation taken in place. And in order to achieve this
target a positive displacement mud motor has been applied, where it is considered as a suitable option to
drill a horizontal well in an unconsolidated formation. The build section of the concerned horizontal well
started from 210 meter as a Kick of Point (KOP), until landing point at 728 meter Measured Depth (MD),
.up to designated final measured depth horizontally

During the execution phase, a washout problem has been encountered in unconsolidated formations sand,
influencing building section, and lateral section control. And in order to struggle this challenge, a close
monitoring via surveying and real time formation evaluation, an immediate well bore trajectory correction
taken place.

This paper presents a methodology of the wellbore trajectory controlling during drilling a horizontal,
implementing real-time of MWD and LWD, ensuring that the wellbore path laying in sweet spot properly.

The result of survey point plotting and geo-steering information, shows the actual well bore trajectory is
almost matching the planed one, which mean that a proper horizontal wellbore placement has been
created, and appear in reaching final measured depth and running casing smoothly.

In addition a good production performance has been achieved via a successful completion well.
