average time people allot to watch them.
As is reported, the average time viewed is always less than the average length of
these advertisements. Generally, the figures for Public Service advertisements
on the Internet are the most considerable.
The average length for each category is from 20 to nearly 40 seconds, except for
that of Public Service (66,7 seconds). Commercials related to attention-grabbing
topics such as Business and finance, Entertainment and news, Technology,
Lifestyle can be displayed in a long duration of time, particularly more than 30
seconds. In the meantime, advertisements of normal things such as Travel,
Retail, Consumer electronics, Clothing or Pharmaceuticals receive less
investment since they are allotted less than 28 seconds to be on-air.
However, viewers do not spend time watching the whole advertisement, leading
to the average time viewed remaining around 14 to 28 seconds. The audiences
tend to pay more attention to commercials of the first four categories since the
time being watched are up to 23 seconds and above. Meanwhile, it seems that
other types of Youtube advertisements are spent no more than 20 seconds on the
watching list.
