Countries are becoming more and more similar because people are able to

buy the same products anywhere in the world. Do you think this is a positive
or negative development?

As is observed in this day and age, nations are becoming indistinguishable due
to similar commodities being available worldwide. On top of that, opinions
diverge on whether this is considered beneficial or detrimental to the growth of
our global village. From my own perspective, I take side with those who believe
the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
On the positive side, the similarization of goods promotes economic growth and
cultural integration. Firstly, the problem of job redundancy is solved effectively
as personnel are in high demand to fulfill orders. Many people will find these
jobs suitable since they offer a decent salary and qualifications are not required.
Moreover, the global accessibility of products brings tremendous benefits to
both customers and manufacturers. Purchasers can buy themselves quality
products with reasonable prices. Additionally, a multitude of merchants will be
able to expand their business with the profits gained. Secondly, cultural
convergence is also catalysed by commodities being internationally available.
Foreign trades act as precursors to the formation of global unity. Not to
mention, many goods being systematized contribute to the diversity of the
international market, which improves people’s living standards. It can be safely
assumed that the life quality of citizens is improved substantially with the
advent of access to a large number of goods.
On the negative side, having opportunities to purchase commodities from
anywhere may trigger extreme globalisation. Since mass production is called
for, the number of imports and exports might be out of control. Consequently, it
cannot be guaranteed that the cultural identity of each country is kept intact. If
nations accept to bring their special indigenous products to the world, they run
the risk of gradually losing the uniqueness. There is every likelihood that such
goods will be modified into different versions when travelling to numerous
places worldwide. Cultural misinterpretations and devaluation might be sparked
off as a result. Therefore, it is incentivised that authorities of countries put a
limit to the types of products that can be exported and reconsider the number of
business trades.
By way of conclusion, I am of the opinion that the merits of the availability of
commodities are more considerable. However, it is pivotal that nations take the
aforementioned repercussions into consideration to develop our society in the
most appropriate way.
