Honesty and integrity is very important in the workplace and also as a daily life

application in all activities. This behavior has a very big impact towards the
clients/customers. Customer satisfaction makes a business grow and shine because if
you give the best service to your client/customers, then surely they will keep coming
back to you and more, they will recommend you to others. This is the importance of
the financial code of ethics as it serves us our guide in giving a good customer service.

Human beings are unique beings. We usually don’t think or behave the same.
We have the ability to perceive a specific thing in different ways. People get
discriminated against for a sort of things. By the color of their skin, by social status
and for being disabled. No one wants to be discriminated, no one wants to become
disabled but other people is still inconsiderate. Example, a food critic disguised as a
disabled woman and went to a fancy restaurant. She approached the host about her
reservation. When the host saw the woman, he looked down to her with distaste. Not
only she was dressed in casual clothes, but the back of her wheelchair was also
covered in a ratty blanket. The host refused her to enter in the restaurant so the
woman asks if she can talk to the manager.

The manager came and ask her if how she can help her. Then the woman told
her that she has a reservation with a name “White”. Irritatedly, the manager stared
down at the woman’s sneaker and said “the dress code demands that ladies should
wear high heels”. In this case, the food critic violated the financial code of ethics which
is to act with honesty and integrity, avoiding a conflict of interest in personal or
professional relationship (https://www.sec.gov>edgar>data) wherein she did not
honestly tell her real identity or information.

Mrs. White bought a high heeled shoe a triple price before she entered in the
restaurant. As she ordered for food, the waiter keeps saying it is not available. Mrs.
White then ordered same food of that in the nearby table. She asked the waiter to give
her nut-free because she is allergic to nuts. The waiter replied disrespectful saying she
can remove the nuts by her own self. In this case, the waiter violated the financial
code of ethics which is to provide reasonable due care to the customer
(https://www.investopedia.com).

Meanwhile, a couple costumer tried to dance tango swaying in the limited space
between the tables and ran into Mrs. White’s wheelchair. The man murmured and call
the manager to complain. The manager apologized to the man and summoned his
waiter to transfer Mrs. White in a hidden area. In this case, the manager violated the
code ethics which is to exercise full and fair judgement towards the customer
(https://www.investopedia.com). It is also stated in the Financial Code of Ethics under
the Roles and Responsibilities that in case a professional finds himself/herself with an
actual or apparent conflict of interest, she must promptly disclose the conflict of
interest to the assigned authority for further investigation
(https://www.sec.gov>edgar>data) but the manager failed to do it, instead, they put
Mrs. White away in a hidden area.

Overall, the employees of the fancy restaurant did not proactively portrait an
ethical behavior towards the customer. They are not proactively implementing the code
of ethics which is to act fully, fairly and objectively. The success of one business relies
in obeying and exercising the code of ethics. The restaurant should also implement a
non-discriminatory rules and regulations in order to attract more customer. Lastly,
“Keep integrity and work ethic intact because an honorable character is the best
calling card that anyone can have!”.
