What do you think are the most important things a manager does?

Is how a manager does

these things also important? Why or why not?

Every employee plays a significant role in an organization because success requires collaboration
or teamwork, but the manager has the greatest impact and is the most important leader of the
organization. The manager's job is to organize projects and assign tasks to employees based on
their proficiency. Managers must also motivate and guide their employees for them to be
inspired to work efficiently and achieve their company's specific goals.

Some people have suggested that understanding human behavior at work is the single most

important requirement for managerial success. Do you agree or disagree with this
statement? Why?

I agree with this statement because it is essential for managerial success because understanding
human behavior at work allows us to know how to handle them and what triggers them to avoid
a negative workplace environment. We'll have an idea of how they act or what motivates them.
The purpose of having discernment in human behavior at work is to ensure the success of your
future tasks or outputs.

The chapter identifies four basic managerial functions. Based on your own experiences and

observations, provide an example of each function.

Planning: Example of planning is when you are starting a new project, you need to prepare or list
down all your possible ideas to execute your project smoothly. Planning is also about deciding,
improvising steps to achieve goal.
Organizing: An example of organizing is getting ready the resources that you will need for the
project, and this is also the part where you will choose which employee to assign to work on a
specific task according on their capabilities.

Leading: Example of this is leadership. In an organization, there must be a leader to guide,

motivate, train, direct so that the employees will not be clueless and perform poorly. It is a
manager’s duty to lead his/her employees not just for their personal gain but for the success of
the whole company.

Controlling: Example of controlling is Comparing the actual sales revenue to estimated sales
revenue to close the gap between the two.

Why will learning about OB help you to get a better job and a better career, and be a
better

manager?

In my own understanding, Learning OB will help me get a better job, career, or even become a
better manager because you are knowledgeable enough to improve your work as an individual
when you apply it soon after you finish your studies. It will help you to be prepare and
competent in the future. It will help you be better because it teaches you how to understand
different behaviors in an organization as well as how to encounter and handle different situations
and personalities in the workplace.
Some people believe that individuals working in an organization have basic human rights
to

satisfaction with their work and to the opportunity to grow and develop. How would you
defend this position? How would you argue against it?

I choose to defend this position. Each employee in an organization has a specific goal and want
it to fulfil. Because the more they finished and get satisfied by their work, they are urged to have
the opportunity to grow and develop in their upcoming tasks over time. This also facilitates
enhanced efficiency among the employees, & results in harmony in the organization. The
manager must make every effort to achieve the organizational goals while also achieving the
individual goals. A company cannot expect to meet the needs of every single employee. Some
employees will require a higher level of care than others because an organization have only
limited resources.

Think of something that you believe leads to employee productivity based on intuition that
may not prove to be true if tested systematically. Now apply the scientific method and
describe how you might test your theory.
