Term 2 (2021-2022)

SECTION A

1 (a) v2-u2=2gh

Ans=15.33m/s (1mark)

(b) v=u-gt

Ans=1.56s (1mark)

2 h=ut+1/2 gt2

h= 125m

PE=mgh

Ans=6250J (2mark)

3 v2=u2+gh

u=140m/s (2mark)

4 Work done by body=mgh (1mark)

Gain in PE=Work done=78400J =7.84x104 J (1mark)

5 Electrons=13, Protons=13,Neutrons=27-13=14 (2mark)

OR

Element=8O16, Electrons=8, Protons=8,Neutrons=16-8=8

6 Diarrhoea is an acute ailment as it short term disease and does not cause any persistent effects
on persons health. (2marks)

OR

(i) Virus- AIDS

(ii) Fungus-Ringworm
(iii) Bacteria-Tuberculosis

(2)

(iv) Protozoan-Malaria

7 (i) Rabies (1mark)

(ii) Yes , Antirabies vaccine (1mark)

OR

Disease- Jaundice (1mark)

Methods for Prevention- Use chlorinated boil water. (1mark)

Hepatitis A vaccine should be taken to prevent the disease.

SECTION B

8 Power= Energy/Time (3marks)

Energy=21.6 x 105 J

Energy used in 30 days=6.48 x 107

9 m1=3kg,m2=12kg (3marks)

Let m3=0.5kg be placed at a distance of ‘a’ from m1,then force acting on m3 due to m1 is equal
and opposite to the force acting on m3 due to m2

F31=F32

Gm1m2/a2 = Gm3m2/(12-a)2

a = 4m

OR

g = GM/R2

Ans = 16.30 x 103 m/s2

10 CaCO3 CaO + CO2 (3marks)

10g = 5.6g + mass of CO2

Mass of CO2 = 4.4g

Law of Conservation of mass – Mass can be neither created nor destroyed during a chemical
reaction.

11 (3marks)

Element Atomic no. Protons Electrons Neutrons Mass no.

A 17 17 17 18 35
B 14 14 14 14 28
C 9 9 9 10 19
(3)

12 (i)Y will lose 2 electrons and X will gain 1 electron. (3marks)

(ii) Valency

(iii) X atomic no -17 = 2,8,7

Y atomic no -12 = 2,8,2

OR

(i) A and B are isobars as they are atoms of different elements having the same mass number.

X and Y are isotopes as they are atoms of same element (same atomic number) having
different mass number.

(ii) No, isobars do not identical chemical properties because they have different atomic
numbers as well as electronic configuration.

13 (i) Molar mass of H2O = 2x1+16= 18g/mol

1mol= 6.022x 1023 molecules

=18g of water

1 molecule weigh 18/6.022 x 1023

= 2.99 x 10-23 g (1.5marks)

(ii) 1 mole of element X contains = 6.022 x 1023 atoms

1.66 x 1020 atoms weigh 16.26 mg= 16.26 x 10-3 g

Therefore 6.022 x 1023 atoms will weigh

=16.26x10-3 /1.66x1020 x 6.022 x1023

= 58.9g= 59g

Therefore, atomic mass of element X is 59u. (1.5 marks)

SECTION C

14 (a) 7g (1mark)

(b) 10 moles (1mark)

(c) Number of molecules= Moles X Avagadro number

= 0.25 x 6.022 x 1023

= 1.505 x 1023 (2mark)

(4)

In H2 ,Number of atoms = 2 x (1.505 x 1023)= 3.01 x 1023

OR

Molar mass of H2O = 18g

Number of molecules present in 1 mole of water = 6.022 x 1023

Number of moles of water = 36/18 = 2

So, the number of molecules of water present in 2 moles of water= 2x 6.022 x 1023

= 1.2044 x 1024

15 (a) Causative agent - Plasmodium, vector – Mosquito (1mark)

(b) Malaria does not spread by direct contact. It can only be transferred to healthy person
through vectors like mosquitoes. (1mark)

(c) When any microbe enter our body, they begin to multiply and cause infection. As a result,
the cells of our body get damaged and signs and symptoms of illness appear. Our immune
system recruits many cells to affected tissue to kill off the disease causing microbes. This
process is called inflammation. Due to inflammation swelling, pain and fever occur.

OR

(i) Avoid contact with students suffering from airborne diseases (2mark)

(ii) By checking availability of clean drinking water.

(iii) By maintaining cleanliness to protect against flies and mosquitoes.

(iv) Starting immunization programs.
