1. Using the Excel file Sales transaction find the following


a. Identify the levels of measurement for each variables
b. Construct a cross tabulation to find the number of transactions by product and
region, total amount of revenue by region, and total revenue by region and product.
c. Calculate the descriptive statistics and infer.
d. Find the average sales by source (web or e-mail). Do you think this information,
could be useful in advertising? Explain how and why or why not.
e. Find the proportion of customers who used PayPal and the proportion of customers
who used credit cards. Also find the proportion that purchased a book and the
proportion that purchased a DVD.
f. Summarize your findings a present a brief report

a) There are four different levels of data measurement they are (1) Nominal (2) Ordinal (3)
Interval & (4) Ratio where the nominal scores the lowest level of measurement to Ratio
scores highest level of measurement
i. Nominal – Could be label or name to identify the element and this can be non
numeric label or numeric code
ii. Ordinal – ordinal data have all the characteristics of nominal and in addition to
that with ordinal data the order or ranking is meaningful
iii. Interval – Interval data are always numerical, difference between numbers are
comparable and expressed interms of fixed unit of measure
iv. Ratio – In addition to have characteristics of intervals, ratio level of data
measurement can have absolute value for zero
