1. Summary

Ballast water refers to seawater filled in the boat for safe and efficient operation of

the ship.

Ship ballast water contains a variety of marine life.

These alien species can move to other coasts and disturb the ecosystem.
To prevent this, The International Maritime Organization (IMO) has requested that all
vessels operating on the world's oceans be sanitized and disinfected prior to discharging
ship ballast water, A bill has been enacted that requires the installation of a ballast water
management system.

This equipment is a rectifier for power supply of electrolyzer equipment for sterilizing

seawater equilibrium seawater by electrolysis method. It is easy to maintain and

interoperate with external controller (PLC) to prevent real-time equipment operation

status and malfunction through precision control of internal microcomputer.

3. Information for communication

Rectifier for ballast water treatment is adopting RS-485 communication method, enabling multi-
drop (1: N) communication, long communication distance, strong against external noise.
Modbus is applied to the communication protocol inside the rectifier, and the rectifier
can be easily controlled through the external controller and parallel control of several rectifiers is

possible.

◆ RTU Transmission mode

RTU Separate frames with spaces (3.5 char), Communication time is reduced using 0x0BF to 0xFF
characters.

4. Equipment Operation

4-1. Precautions on installation

When installed in the following locations it is necessary to attach an over-voltage input

protection device or a variety of protective devices to prevent malfunction and
communication disturbances.

◆ A place exposed to high electromagnetic fields, If it is located near the main current
circuit breaker, a large area of power or a flashing power, such as an inverter, etc.
◆ A feverish place, A lot of direct sunlight, Places where polluted areas or continuously
vibrating places are highly susceptible to humidity.
◆ Disconnect all connector connections and connect them to the power source, and do
not contact the output booth bar directly after power is connected.
◆ For terminal connections, check and connect the power rating and terminal wiring.

4-2. Verification before rectification operation

◆ Check the input power of AC 3 Phase

- when input power rating is over ±10%, do not operate the rectifier.
- Check that the electrode Chamber (ELectrolyzer) H2 gas discharge line valve is open.
◆ Check the flow rate and temperature conditions of the coolant.

5. Fault elimination method

1. The rectifier input voltage is greater than 15 % of the reference
