Animal Reproduction

The process by which animals produce young is called reproductions.


Animals reproduce in many ways.

1. By giving birth to young ones.


2. By laying eggs.
By giving birth to live young.

Common features of mammals.


1. They give birth to young.
2. They are warm-blooded.
3. They have hair on their body.
4. They feed babies with milk.
5. The young of mammals are usually born alive.
Eg:- Elephant, Fox, Bat, Whale, Dolphin, Monkey, Humans

6. Duck -billed platypus lays eggs.


By laying eggs.

Common features of eggs.

1. The female produces the eggs.


2. Eggs are usually oval or round.
3. Some have coloured patterns on them and
some come in different colours and size.

Shell - Protects the parts inside.

Yolk - Stores food for the growing baby bird or embryo.

Albumen - Protects the yolk and the embryo. A clear,


sticky Liquid.
Life cycle .

The series of stages through which a living thing


passes from beginning of its life until it’s death
is called a life cycle.

Example of life cycle in three stages.

1. Grasshopper.
2. Fish
3. Cockroach.
