WORK EXPERIENCE
Principal Software Engineer, May 2016 – Present
GroupW, Vienna, VA
● Currently serving as a Campaign Analyst, performing modeling and simulation to support quantitative and
qualitative analysis of conventional and unconventional theater operations to inform Department of Defense
decision makers
● Working collaboratively with an integrated team of analysts using STORM and other DoD analytic products
to acquire and/or develop appropriate input data
● Employing in-depth knowledge of modeling/Operations Research techniques to inform a variety of analyses,
wargames, exercises, and experiments
● Developed modeling and simulation software applications for the Department of Defense. These applications
employ a wide variety of technologies and disciplines including computer science, discrete event simulation,
operations research relational database, combinatorial optimization, graph theory, graphical user interface and
data visualization
● Designed, implemented, and tested various code modules written in C++ for the Synthetic Theater Operations
Research Model (STORM), the “primary campaign analysis tool used by various Department of Defense
organization to top-level officials on force structures, operational concepts, and military capabilities.” Some
of these modules include the following:
◦ Enhancement of STORM’s surface-to-air model to allow selected air defense site and missile types to
engage enemy tactical ballistic missiles using cueing information received from remote systems instead
of, or in addition to, the sites’ own acquisition and tracking sensors
◦ The ability to track fuel consumption and shortages of transportation vehicles throughout the campaign
◦ Allowing naval bases to be conditionally activated in STORM to enable representation of the seizure and
repair/replacement of enemy port facilities. In addition, this allowed naval bases to function as logistics
nodes so that resources delivered to a naval base by naval and/or other transportation assets can then be
redistributed to consumers via surface transportation and/or airlift
◦ Redesigned the existing strike planner code using a more reusable, object-oriented approach
◦ Extended STORM's ISR collection trace reporting capability to include sensor-centric reports that list the
candidate collection targets for each active observation opportunity
● Received the “Hawk Award” for mission readiness from HAF/A9I for developing a quick turn code
enhancement in STORM that incorporates cost imposition for every physical entity in a military campaign
● Involved in all stages of the software engineering process to include configuration management, coding
standards, and peer reviews
● Consulted and coordinated with team members on system design and functionality
● Analyzed problem reports from users and resolved software defects by utilizing debugging tools such as gdb
and various scripting languages
Senior Software Engineer, Aug 2012 – May 2016
Mantech International Corporation, Arlington, VA
● Primarily functioned as a software developer of various modeling and simulation programs for the
Department of Defense and agencies in South Korea
● Provided support for the design and development of the Airbase Defense and Resiliency Model (ADARM), a
suite of modeling tools written in C++ to analyze weapons effects on military airbase operations.
● Provided support for the design and development of Porthos, a C++ model that provides analysis for sortie
generation rates and airbase operations over time given both peacetime and hostile conditions
● Provided support in the design and development of Athos, a C++ model that provides weapons assessment
analysis for operational energy (such as the electrical grid, fuel, etc.) and operations related targets (such as
runways, aircraft, fuel tanks, power grids, personnel, etc.) from unitary to cluster munitions of various
patterns and sizes
● Documented algorithms for air to air missile flight motion and guidance control for SAFEGARD (a mission
level simulation software)
● Designed and implemented test cases in SAFEGARD to ensure the fidelity of aircraft flight maneuvers and
pilot behavior models
● Developed BASH scripts for an aircraft engagement level simulation software called BRAWLER to automate
the installation process
● Analyzed and implemented vulnerability assessment and penetration software programs and design tools such
as BRLCAD, RMTG, FASTGEN, VALUE, and COVART.
● Led numerous training sessions on vulnerability assessment simulation tools in South Korea for various
defense agencies
● Supported the effort in converting a time phased force deployment data management application (TPFDD)
into an ASP.NET web services application hosted on a server using a combination of AJAX, JDBC, C#,
jQuery, and JavaScript
● Developed simulated weapons systems in Python to be used in the Conflict Analysis and Simulation Tool
(CAST)

Systems Engineer, May 2012 – Aug 2012

CSSI Inc., Washington, D.C
● Performed functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation and
interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
● Designed software tools and subsystems based upon customer requirements
● Analyzed business needs in order to recommend, and implement improvements to processes and applications
● Led requirements meetings and design review presentations to ensure product delivery as envisioned by the
customer
● Tested, maintained, and monitored computer programs and systems, including coordinating the installation of
computer programs and systems.
● Managed software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted
design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
● Provided staff and users with assistance solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and
program glitches.

Software Engineer, July 2011 – May 2012

Lockheed Martin Corporation, Gaithersburg, MD
● Developed application software for the Iridium NEXT satellite constellation
● Defined test cases and wrote unit and component test code to assess the networking layer of a satellite
communications protocol
● Composed technical documents and created UML diagrams regarding the design of software architecture
● Conducted research to aid senior engineers in formulating the requirements of multiple domains of Iridium
satellites
● Designed user friendly Perl scripts that automatically generate C++ code for the task initialization of a real
time operating system to significantly reduce valuable programming time of other developers
