AMM - For those who don’t know, what does it mean “turn pro” in bodybuilding
competition? What does one have to do to reach that level?
Logan - When you win a number of shows you have the opportunity to reach the
professional level. For most it involves prize money for placings and winnings. For me it
was more satisfying to stand on stage and compete with the athletes I was reading about
just a couple of years earlier.
AMM - Were you always into sports when you were just a kid?
Logan - Yes I was always big on sports as a kid. I loved the big three, football, basketball
AMM - What shows or films had you done so far and had
you done any speaking part?
Logan - I did mostly background work on films but I got a
good amount of screen time. My mother’s favorite was
General Hospital because she was such a fan of the show.
AMM - What would you say were your special skills that
contributed to your acting?
Logan - If I had to say what special skills helped me with
the acting I would have to give credit to my acting coach
Janice Dean who really helped me early on. She told me I
was easy on the eyes and had good timing. I also picked up
a lot of things from watching so much tv as a kid.
AMM - Now at the age of 49, we can say you have learned
so much about the fitness industry. How do you feel about
the film industry currently accepting actors who are
bodybuilders? Enough or not enough? Is it still difficult for
muscular guys to get acting jobs? etc.
Logan - Hollywood in my opinion has always used
Bodybuilders as props. The bodyguard or the soldier or the
guy that does the dirty work. I think it has to do with the
general public’s perception that we lack anything more than
a basic intellect. For many people muscles do not equate
with brains. Arnold did a lot for us in the 80’s and 90’s, now
the Rock is following in his footsteps and making his own
path. But as far as an explosion of big leading men or more
prominent rolls for Bodybuilders I’m skeptical. We are not the
AMM - What is the number one obstacle you think you still have
to overcome to reach your goal?
Logan - My number one obstacle to reaching any of my goals has
always been myself. I’m not a blamer. If I fall short of my intended
goal I own it. I have been so fortunate in that anything I’ve set my
mind to and really gone after I’ve gotten it. I’ve never said this
person or that person kept me form this or that. It’s easy to blame
others instead of looking at yourself. God has been generous
enough to give me all the tools I need to achieve whatever I decide
to do. I have no complaints.

AMM - What do friends and family say when they see the
photos of you in the nude? And how do you respond?
Shaka - They are surprised because I’m not shy but I also don’t
like being the center of attention. They do say I have the body for
it and are very supportive.
"The Pose"
Food on the Go
Remeber when we were young and we wanted to go to far away
cities like London, Singapore, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Paris,
Amsterdam, etc? As we get older we’ll be happy if we can just go
bathroom each day!!!
If you were like me you woudn’t try to eat healthy by eating more fruits
per day. I really don’t like spending time munching on fruits since I
don’t have time to keep eating and they don’t fill me up much at all.
Not long before I realized what else I was missing out on, why not add more
fruits? Fresh ones are best but if you have no time to cut and peel, then use
frozen fruits. I found that frozen fruits were just as satisfying because for a hot
morning the frozen fruits added to the blend could make a cold smoothie. So
the choices started to grow with strawberry, blueberry, and kiwi. Berries are
good for antioxidants and kiwi is rich in vitamin A and C. We know vitamin C is
good for fighting cold and flu. Vitamin A is good for bone and skin. Another
fruit that is good for your skin is peach and it also helps in keeping your eyes
healthy. I used either fresh or frozen and not canned fruits because canned
fruits have added sugar and loss of nutrients.
Some other fruits I considered them exotic and a bit pricey. Star fruits and
dragon fruits are 2 of the few that I buy once a while. Star fruits are also high
in fiber so they can help you prevent constipation and since they are low in
calories, they also help you lose weight. I don’t think I need to lose weight but
not being constipated really make me feel lean and able to hold my abs in
better. Dragon fruits contain protein, calcium, iron, vitamin C, antioxidants
and the seeds produce oil that acts as a mild laxative. So for adults who sit
at their computers all day, these fruits, nuts, and seeds can help you feel
lighter and not all stuffed up. Now you know more and yet not required to
do that much more to get healthier.
For additional fun and healthier blend, I now added baby spinach and
cooked or pickled beets. If you have kids and want them to join in, make
your smoothie colorful. Beet has that strong burgundy color while strawberry
gives you a softer pink. Blueberry makes your smoothie a pastel violet but my
favorite is now the spinach. I find the spinach helps me with my restless legs at
night and it gives a green color drink so kids can think of it as a Hulk Drink. :D

the interview:
AMM - What keeps you excited about your work in hair, make-up, and styling?
Christian - I would have to say meeting new people and knowing they are putting their trust in me to help them
look and feel their very best.
AMM - Being talented is one thing, but you have to be a people person for what you do take you up close and
personal with whoever is sitting in front of you. Have you ever encounter one really extremely difficult person to
please? And what did you do to change the atmosphere so you can get the result you need done?
Christian - I have come across numerous difficult customers over
the years. I’ve learned to ask a lot of questions regarding their
needs; such as how long do they want to truly spend on their hair
in the morning. If it is a wash and go kind of client; it tells me to not
put a lot of layers in their haircut.
AMM - Not all of the jobs are as glamorous in your line of work,
but I can imagine some can be just as rewarding even when
glamour did not apply?
Christian - Very few jobs are what one would consider glamorous.
It’s a lot of hard work! But it is always rewarding to me when the
models, celebrities, or every day clients are having a great
experience. A little side note; I have learned over the years to always
keep the talent fed on shoots or at fashion shows.
AMM - LOL, especially if that client was ME. Who was your first
major male client? And how did you prepare yourself for that
moment?
AMM - Brothers? That’s a good thing :D. What was it like working with Heath Ledger?
Christian - Heath Ledger was a very quiet guy; but of course he was sexy as all get out.
AMM - Do you also feel even after you give the men your best advices they still might not do it to
take better care of their hair and skin?
Christian - Most of my men clients usually take my advice about hair care and skincare. The
average guy likes a great pomade or gel and will usually stick to only two or three skincare products.
AMM - What is the number one reason for skin damage in men?
Christian - The number one reason for skin damage in men is getting too much sun. They should
always use sun protection with a high SPF; as well as use a gentle cleanser.
AMM - Do you feel men in general, whether they are movie stars, athletes, or office workers, just
don’t take good care of their skin and hair?
Christian - I think men generally do take pretty good care of their skin and hair. To be honest, I
think men are pickier about their haircuts than most women. Men generally tend to use less
skincare products than women; but I do see that trend changing.
AMM - You had done your magic with so many big names and now, is there still someone you are
crossing your fingers and hope to get him in your styling seat? Besides me of course. :D
Christian - I would love to have the opportunity to work on male supermodel Luke Blue. Oh his
gorgeous blue eyes make me melt.
AMM - You and many others I’m sure. There is always room for improvements. What do you do
everyday to keep bettering yourself as The Beauty Architect?
Christian - I have learned to always try to improve my skills and my attitude. One way has been
to always observe other hair and make-up artists. I study what they do that makes them the very
best; then I integrate it with what I know I do best. I also find it important to reinvent myself from
time to time.

Another film I had worked on but it’s not out yet was Venom.
Almost the same atmosphere but this time it was in a Taiwanese
village, less decorations and smaller set. Yet, it was packed with
actions and I got a chance to do some action of my own. Running
from danger!!! I must have looked to them to be in good shape so
they had me do the most running, filming from different angles,
over and over and over. My knees were starting to hurt as it has
been a long night and I was in dress shoes, running on gravels
and uneven path. I guess I must have channeled Black Panther for
the energy to carry it through the long night. Some other extras
were chosen to be victims and got killed on the set, but me, I
want to do some stunts. Becareful what you asked for? Even if you
might not get to see me in action on the big screen, I could still
said I did it!!!
Now I’m up for the most challenging casting for an extra yet: to
play a male stripper with a chance to do a full nude scene in a
feature film. I had to submit a photo showing most of me, holding
a current newspaper showing the date so that the casting agent
can tell it’s not a photo of me decades ago. We all know our body
changes overtime so it’s not easy for any of us to keep fit and
looking young forever, especially when I’m turning 49 this August
8th. I’ll let you know which film this is in the next issue of AMM.

Remember I mentioned I was sick most of the time? One day I saw a small booklet, a comic
to be exact, of Tarzan. I loved to draw and seeing a book full of drawings certainly attracted my
attention. A strong and muscular man he was, and mostly naked. I wanted to be like that. I
want to be big and strong and muscular. I also noticed I liked looking at the drawing of his
body. Didn’t know what that meant but I liked the feeling.
Then there were 2 brothers on the same blocks about my age at the time who liked to run
around naked in their house whenever their parents were not home. One day I was with them
and no adults around. Well I got the idea of playing Tarzan, they played tigers and pretend to
eat me alive.
