Who is at Risk?
Almost all hospitalised patients are at risk of VTE. Without prophylaxis, the incidence of DVT
could be between 10-40% of all medical and general surgical patients and higher amongst
orthopaedic patients, ca 40-60%.1,5
It is therefore critical to identify and stratify as soon as possible patients who may be at risk.
