Set-up guide Philips Module

PulseCO
1. Plug into the mains power and turn on the monitor
2. Attach cable from the LiDCOplus into the Philips module invasive blood pressure
module (see below)
3. Press ‘Start New Patient’

PHILIPS IntelliVue MP40 & above:

• Insert pressure module into module rack – ensure it clicks into place.
• Connect the IBP cable from the transducer to the module
• Connect the Li10162 cable from the ADC on the LiDCO monitor to the Philips
pressure module.
• If arterial wave is not present select the ‘module rack’ icon, select the pressure
module and activate ART (insure that ART is not activated on another module).

4. Fill in yellow boxes: Patient ID; Age; Height & Weight

5. Press the ‘PulseCO’ icon

Safety checks
6. Check blood pressure waveform is within 10% of the patient monitor readings

7. Check HR on LiDCOplus is within 5% of the patient monitor readings.

Use Beat Detector Threshold to adjust if necessary

N.B If the patient is unstable, consider increasing the auto-average period on the Patient Details Screen.

Calibration
8. Press the LiDCO icon and LiDCO icon again on the sub menu

9. Fill in the yellow boxes: Haemoglobin, sodium & lithium dose

10. Press the ‘LiDCO’ icon and check that the cardiac output is stable
11. Access the Set-Up guide by pressing the ‘information’ icon and follow the
on-screen instructions

12. Stop the flow regulator, flush the sensor and re-establish the arterial waveform
13. Press the flashing ‘auto-calibrate’

13. Press the flashing ‘retry’ icon to commence the second calibration
14. Go back to the Set-Up guide & follow the last process again;

15. Stop the flow regulator, flush the sensor and re-establish the arterial waveform
16. Press the flashing ‘auto-calibrate’
17. If the monitor advises press the flashing ‘accept calibration’

N.B If there is no agreement between the two calibrations the LiDCOplus will advise a third calibration.
