SITE REPORT

Re-Development Of Hanimaadhoo International Airport


Date of Site Visit: 21st Feb 2022.
Hanimaadhoo Island:
Local Population: Approx 5000members
Hospital: General Hospital at available at Island for an emergency. For major
surgery will be shifted to MALE (by AIR). For emergency INDIAN AIRFORCE/NAVY
rescue team is available.

AIR: Daily 5 flights from Male to Hanimaadhoo.


Fare for Work Visa: 1000 MVR – Rs 5000/-
Fare for Tourist Visa: 3009 MVR- Rs.15500/- ($195.20).
Airlines Maldivan Airlines.

Local Transport: TAXI (5 Vehicles available in Entire ISLAND)

Hotel: 4 Guest Rooms of Airport ($75- $100 Per Night), 1 Resort ($325 Per Night),
and 1 Hotel ($175 Per Night)
Accommodation rentals: 20000MVR (Rs. 100000/-) per month – 2.5 BHK House.

Water:
The present water source is rainwater stored during the rainy season and
utilized for drinking after R.O filtration. Pipeline facility for houses.
For Construction Activity – Groundwater – Available after 300ft – after filtration
process can be utilized for construction work.
Electricity:
The Electricity Power House by the GOVT, which will be run by a diesel
generator.
Near By Sea Port for Logistics: KULHUDHUFUSHI ISLAND
Aggregate: 1200 MVR per Tonn.
Cement: 155MVR per 50Kg Bag. (Supplied by Apollo Holding and Maldives
Cement)
Wages:
Labor wages per month: $300 per month. Semi-Skilled: $600, Fully Skilled: $1000-
$1200. (Excluding Food and Accommodation).
Local Labor wages per month: MVR 2500. Semi-Skilled: MVR 4000, Fully Skilled:
MVR. 6500.
Custom Duty: 20% construction material.
Maldives GST: 6%.

Site Observations:

 The airport had a separate generator backup for an emergency.


 The existing Elevation of the Airport is approximately 2Mtr from sea level.
 The existing airport runway and departure/arrival building is on Zero
level from the ground.
 The entire area proposed for a redevelopment of the airport was in control
of the airport security and fencing was available for the runway area.
 The entire area below Fig 1 and Fig 2 was covered with bushes and
Tress (Coconut Tree, Jungle wood Tree).
 For cutting of trees, local council permissions are needed to be obtained
and replantation needs to consider as proposed by the local council.
 Soil filling is required for the entire area of Fig 1 and Fig 2 up to 300mm
to 500mm to meet the existing level of the runway.

 After 10mtr soft fissured rock (RQD > 45%) is encountered up to 17.5Mtr
and later the dry fissured rock (RQD > 65%) was encountered up to
30Mtrs.
The above data was obtained from the local agency at the male who had
done soil investigation at the terminal point and flight taxi-point as per
the master plan.
However, they had refused to share the data as they have been legally
bonded with MOU.
Present MTCC (Maldivian Transporting and contracting Company) is working on
the development of the road on the Island.
RCC (Rasheed Carpenting and Contracting Company) worked for housing colony
development.
