GROUP PROJECT GUIDELINES


The main purpose of the Group Project is to manifest professionalism of the students as future
Engineer. This Group Project assignment is based on Modules taught in this Course. The actual case
studies to be analysed are meant to expose students on issues related to work-environment and
anticipated challenges in engineering. Working in groups represents ‘real-world' working condition
in engineering, where communication, lifelong learning and team building are inculcated.

REQUIREMENTS
1. The Group Project involves case studies based on the questions provided. It shall be
performed by groups of 5 students. Choose only one (1) question.
2. Each group will be responsible on the planning and execution of the case study. A final oral
presentation (10 – 15 minutes) will be conducted upon submission of project report. Each
group shall select one project leader.
3. The groups should demonstrate the followings:
1. That he/she has thought sufficiently about the role of the engineer in the society vis-
à-vis his/her professional Code of Ethics/Code of Professional Conducts.
2. That he/she is able to relate real case study in Malaysia/World to the
question provided.
3. Able to communicate and develop management skills in human relations, decision
making, to lead and become an effective team member.
4. Able to advocate and to champion the conclusions reached by his/her professional
competence through writing. To show by examples that ethics and high integrity are
fundamental in professional services.
5. Address the relevant safety, sustainability, intellectual rights issues arise in the scope
of the project.
4. For each question, the discussion in the report must include the related cases; must relate
to case studies as stated in the questions. The project itself must be original. Plagiarism
will not be tolerated. Information on actual case studies can be obtained from newspapers,
magazines, books, Internet, interviews, etc. Anonymous names of persons, place, companies,
etc. must be used to respect and maintain confidentiality where required.
5. Recommendations that correspond to the conclusion must be presented. These shall be in
the form of actions that must be taken to rectify the problem(s), further investigations into
the case, etc.
6. Students are responsible to develop a Group Project Report and Group Oral Presentation
based on chosen case studies. Students are encouraged to be creative in their approach.
7. Groups are to submit a minimum of three (3) Minutes of Meeting (MOM) in the project
report. The MOM must be verified and signed by the group leader and illustrate the conduct
of the leader and team members in assigning and delivering the project.
8. Turn-it-in similarity report must be submitted together with Group Project Report. Turn-
it-in similarity result should be less than 10%.

1. Report: 20% (Due date: 12 November 2021)
• Please use the attached template for the report.
• Link for report submission will be informed by the respective Section Lecturer.

• Compulsory for all team members to participate in the group presentation.
• Presentation duration is 10 minutes (maximum).
• Details on the presentation slots will be informed by the respective Section Lecturer.

Important Notes:
a. Group Project requires the involvement of each member of the group.
b. Any report with Turn-It-In similarity more than 10% will not be marked.
