The AutoConfiguration Adapters ACA 21-... are devices for storing and updating configuration data
and software for the Hirschmann Industrial ETHERNET devices 1).
In the case of a device failure, the ACA 21-... enables a very simple configuration data transfer by
means of a substitute device of the same type.

Storing the current configuration data in the ACA 21-...

You can transfer the current device configuration onto the ACA 21-... and simultaneously onto the
flash memory of the device using the Web-based Interface (Menu „Load/Save“) or using the
Command Line Interface.

Transferring the configuration data from the ACA 21-...

When you restart, the device assumes the configuration data of the ACA 21-... and saves them
permanently into the flash memory.

Updating software
See User Manual Basic Configuration “Loading the Software from the ACA“ for this.

1) TheACA support of your device you can learn from the Read-me file on the product CD or in the
Internet on the product page.

Installing the ACA 21-...
Plug the ACA 21-... into the USB terminal or the M12 terminal of the device.
Note: When you restart, the device always assumes the configuration data of the ACA and saves
them permanently into the flash memory. Wether the configuration data of the ACA coincides with
the configuration data of the device, shows you the status of the AutoConfiguration Adapter in the
Web-based Interface or Command Line Interface.
