The word namo (नमो) is the salutations bīja (seed) mantra namaḥ (नमः) used for paying our
obeisance to the Divine Mother.
The word bhagavate (भगवते ) means “associated with the divine mother”.
The word mahā-śukāya (महाशुकाय ) is a reference to the Divine Mother Śrī Śuka Śyāmalā,
“the One who is the embodiment of all knowledge and manifested sound vibrations.” She is
the great parrot that constantly recites the scriptures to the Divine Mother Śrī Rāja Śyāmalā
and also the One, who can grant us complete knowledge of everything we seek.
The word “alaṅkārāya” literally means “decorative”. The Divine Mother Śrī Śuka Śyāmalā
adorns all the triads and is manifested in them.
Finally, the bījas 2 to 7 are reversed to catalyze the effects of this mantra. This process of
reversal of bījas is called Sampuṭīkaraṇa. Many major mantras have this feature enabled.
Salutations and oblations are offered to the Divine Mother Śrī Śuka Śyāmalā Devi, who is
endowed with the complete knowledge of every scripture and sound present in the entire
Creation. She is invoked to bestow Her benevolent grace upon us and help us gain all the
knowledge and skills to become the best at what we do and also to obtain the favor of all
higher authorities and entities and enrich our lives in every possible manner!
May She usher auspiciousness and prosperity in our lives and ultimately grant us the
knowledge of self-realization and lead us to liberation.
