A FAIRYTALE ON THE VISTULA

(PART ONE)

After three weeks of running without a moment ’s pause, and definitely no time to wash
and clean up, we looked and smelled like the Three Billy Goats Gruff. Considering our
appearance, it’s funny how we ended up butting heads with a troll!
On the map, it looked like a ’piece of cake’ to cross the thin blue line, which sliced
through the centre of our route. Well, that ‘cake walk’ left a whole host of people dead,
and a hole the size of a tennis ball in my left leg!

THE BUNKER
Elric Voss has lived through two world wars, He has seen
the country he once loved destroyed. Now, along with the
remains of the East German Legion, he intends to recapture
the promise of a true communist state. The fact that
thousands will die choking on chemical gas, is for him, a
small price to pay. Can the characters stop him and return
a little hope to the world?

German reunification was not welcomed by all. A number of devoted communists, those
involved with the darker elements of the regime, or just those who lost their status
in the new country, emigrated to the USSR. Here, they brooded and plotted seeking to
undermine the new United Germany, which they blamed for their exile. When war broke
out, they volunteered enthusiastically to fight. The Soviets formed them into the
East German Legion and deployed them on anti-partisan duties. They soon became no-
torious for their fanatism and brutality.

attempting to swim to them. On seeing this,
Jakob Nowak will be furious with rage, de-
manding her immediate return.

EVENTS

The Bridge presents several potential plots. Just crossing

a bridge, in the post war world, is difficult. Those who
control the means to make a river crossing wield a great
deal of power in the local area.
Below, are a number of specific events which could oc-
cur at this site:

1. Jakob Nowak, beats a child. One of the children

fails to meet Jakob’s standards when performing a
task. On discovering the child’s failure, Jakob be-
comes infuriated, leading to him beating the poor
child uncontrollably.
2. A small detachment of Marauders arrive at the
bridge. They pay the toll and cross over. What
goods are they carrying?
3. One of the smaller children falls from the bridge
whilst working on it’s upkeep. This unfortunate
child will drown, unless the characters step in to
help?
4. A group of Marauders launches a surprise attack
on the bridge. Jakob Nowak, holding up a detona-
tor, threatens the bridge’s destruction!
5. A number of bodies dressed in identical orange
jump suites, float down the river. On closer exami-
nation they show clear signs of malnourishment,
along with numerous injuries, which have ulti-
mately resulted in death.
6. A glow and billowing smoke can be seen in the
distance. This is the result of the assault on Castle
Mozbork by the East German Legion: See a Fair-
ytale On The Vistula: Part Two: The Tower.
7. The Characters discover numerous folded paper
packets printed with an R&R logo. If examined,
they contain traces of a pinkish powder?

WHAT NEXT FOR THE BRIDGE

The bridge may just been a crossing point for the river,
or it may be the start of something bigger. It’s possible
that the characters could make the bridge into a base,
living in relative comfort from the tolls they can extract
for a crossing. Unfortunately, the locals may be less
than happy with this situation and the Guzik Mob may
be paying them a visit.
Alternatively, they can leave the bridge and the children
in the hands of Mayda Wozniak and follow an eight
year old in a quest to save her mother who is being
held hostage at Castle Mozbork.
