Class : _________________________ Score Parent’s sign
Instructions:
 Use black ink or ball-point pen.
 Fill in the blanks at the top of this page with the information required.
 Answer all questions.
 You need to show sufficient working wherever necessary as indicated by the marks.
 The marks of each question are shown in brackets [ ].
 Please write down your way of working

1. A fair spinner has eight equal sections.

The sections are labelled A, B, C, and D as shown below.
The arrow is spun.

(a) Which letter is most likely the arrow to land on? [1]

(b) What is the probability that the arrow lands on a B? [1]

2. Here is a four side spinner. The spinner is biased.

The table shows the probabilities that the spinner will land on 1 or on 2
Number 1 2 3 4

Probability 0.2 0.3 ….. …..

The probability that the spinner will land on 3 is the same as the probability that the spinner will land
on 4.
(a) Work out the probability that the spinner will land on 3 [3]

(b) Vega is going to spin the spinner 100 times. Work out the estimate for the number of times the
spinner will land on 3! [2]
3. There are 2 bags, bag 1 and bag 2. Each bag contains 3 counters labelled with different numbers.

In bag 1, the counters are labelled 1, 2 and 3.

In bag 2, the counters are labelled 1, 2 and 4.
A counter is drawn at random from bag 1 and a counter is drawn at random from bag 2.
The two numbers are added together to give a score.

(a) Complete the table to show all possible scores [2]

Bag 1
+ 1 2 3
Bag 2

(b) Find the probability of scoring a 6 [1]

(c) Find the probability of scoring less than 4 [1]

4. The cost, C ($), of a circular carpet is directly proportional to the square of the radius, r (m).
A circular carpet with a radius of 2m cost $120.
(a) Work out the formula C in terms of r [3]
(b) What is the cost of a carpet with radius of 1.5m? [2]

5. The graph below shows the relationship between x and y for 1 ⩽ x ⩽ 10.
(a) Work out the formula of y in term of x! [3]
(b) What happen to y when x halves? [1]

(b) (𝟐𝒑 ) [2]

𝟕 𝟑 𝟑
(c) 𝟏𝟐𝒙 𝒚 : 𝟔𝒙 𝒚 [2]

8. The first term of arithmetic sequence is 3 and the 10th term is 39.
(a) Find the 21th term! [5]
(b) Find the sum of the first 8th term of the sequence [3]

Total: [35]
