A rubbed portion of the balloon is

already negatively charged. But, since
metal is a conductor of electricity,
whenever the balloon is rubbed against
metals, those excess electrons in the
balloon quickly leave the balloon and
migrate into the metal, allowing the
balloon to no more be attracted and
attach.

The screen is energized in a favorable way. When dust particles fly near it, the positive charges in the screen generate
a charge in the dust particle, attracting the negative charges and pushing the positive charges away. The negative side
is then attracted by the screen, attracting the dust particle.

Because the polythene rod becomes charged, it

can attract little pieces of paper. A charged object
will attract a neutral object until they come into
contact, at which point they will be repelled.

If you rub the copper rub with the

cloth then the rod will become
positively charged. The reason why
it became charge is due to friction.

Electric Filed Lines

Diagram A - Correct
Diagram B - Correct
Diagram C - Incorrect, because the arrow should point outwards if it’s positive
Diagram D - Incorrect, due to the factor that the field lines are not in uniform order
Diagram E - Incorrect, because the arrows should be inwards if it’s negative.
